DON’T SLEEP: Blu x Exile “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them” [NEW PROJECT]

Blu & Exile’s “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them” was released a while back in a low quality audio format via Bandcamp quite a while back (Yeah, I have that version as well). Two weeks ago, the high quality audio version was released via Fat Beats/Dirty Science. It’s a definite follow up to the previous classic Blu & Exile release “Below The Heavens”. The entire project was produced by Dirty Science’s Exile features guest appearances from Fashawn, Homeboy Sandman, Johaz (Dag Savage), Black Spade (Hawthorne Headhunters) and ADaD. You can cop “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them” from iTunes, Amazon, Fat Beats & UGHH. Don’t sleep on it…

DON’T SLEEP: Blu x Exile “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them Promo” [PROMO VIDEO]

So…back in December Blu & Exile dropped their follow up to “Below The Heavens” direct to Bandcamp. Well, guess what? Blu x Exile “Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them” will be released on September 9th, 2012 fully remastered with bonus tracks and instrumentals via New World Color/Dirty Science/Fat Beats. Expect a single/vinyl EP to drop this July. I knew that would happen sooner or later. Feel like a dick for having spent $15 on it now, don’t cha?

DON’T SLEEP: Exile x Blu “give me my flowers while I can smell them” [NEW ALBUM]

So…Blu & Exile mentioned in passing a few months ago that they were going to release an album before the year was up. I was like “Word?”. I figured it would either drop on New World Color via Nature Sounds or maybe even on Dirty Science via SoulSpazm. Nah, B. Exile x Blu’s “give me my flowers while I can smell them” dropped via Bandcamp. Listen to it here. Cop it. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: god lee barnes (Blu) “god is good; a soundtrack to life” [NEW PROJECT]

Wait. Did Blu just try to to sneak another lo fi album past us that’s going to drop on Nature Sounds later as a high quality audio version in a few months again? Years ago people complained that Blu’s output was anemic. They ain’t sayin’ that shit no more, B. I’ve almst lost count of Blu’s output in 2011 and I’ve been watching closely (no Jay Electronica). This is dope but the audio quality is KILLING me. The credits say this was produced and mixed by Blu himself…this was MIXED? *Scratches head*. Listen anyways and see if you can avoid becoming frustrated with the sound. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: godlee barnes (Blu) “the norman rockwell beat tape” [BEAT TAPE]

A few years ago heads complained Blu never released anything. They complain about the exact opposite this year as Blu has turned into this years most prolific artist both releasing physical versions of previously low quality audio free projects and by dropping new material quite often (including his long awaited LP “No York…for free). Here’s another one. Under the moniker godlee barnes he drops the $5 offering “the norman rockwell beat tape”, it’s dope as hell. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP: Blu “Open” [NEW UPCOMING PROJECT]

Back in 2009, many of you may remember that Blu released a collection of his instrumentals for free on numerous popular sites called “Open”. What you need to know is that since Blu & New World Color have teamed with Nature Sounds to release his entire back catalog that Blu hand picked several heads to spit over these compositions and is offering it up as a production album and the instrumentals will be included in the package. You can cop the new version of “Open” beginning September 27th, 2011 (it’s gonna be a busy day!). Pre-order it direct from Nature Sounds right now in MP3, CD or vinyl formats. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP: Blu “Jesus ∆” [NEW ALBUM]

3 months ago I did a post about the mysterious Blu album that appeared on Bandcamp for $10 called “Jesus ∆”. The album had a gang of repeated songs under different titles and that only left 8 original songs that were slightly over 17 minutes of music in total once it was downloaded. Not very long afterwards, the album was taken off of Bandcamp entirely. Recently Nature Sounds announced that they’d be releasing a proper version of “Jesus” in association with New World Color like they’d done previously with “Her Favorite Colo(u)r”.

Now you can cop the 11 song opus featuring Planet Asia and production from Madlib, Alchemist, Knxwledge, Hezekiah & 9th Wonder.  You can expect to get your hands on Blu’s “Jesus” on iTunes right now but you can acquire the project from other digital marketplaces later on. You can pre-order the physical copy which drops on August 30th, 2011. You can pre-order it on CD or 2LP’s (shipping August 16th) from Nature Sounds. Don’t sleep…
