DON’T SLEEP: Boog Brown & Apollo Brown “U.P.S.” (prod. by Apollo Brown) [VIDEO]

Here are the new visuals for the track “U.P.S.” off of the collaborative Boog Brown & Apollo Brown “Brown Study” LP that dropped on Mello Music Group last year. Boog Brown is one of the nicest emcees (male or female) in the game and Apollo Brown is one of the illest producers in the game. The video is just below. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: Has-Lo “Utero” [VIDEO]

Has-Lo’s “In Case I Don’t Make It” drops everywhere March 29th, 2011 but it dropped yesterday as an iTunes exclusive. You can watch this video for the song “Utero” and then check out to album and if you like what you hear you can cop it a full week early. Don’t sleep, heads are going to be talking about this album for years to come. I can say that with total confidence, unlike when Steve Rifkind claimed Asher Roth’s debut was a “classic album” or a “game changer”. Riiiight! © Bill Cosby. The video for “Utero” is below. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: Oddisee “Odd Seasons” [NEW INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Oddisee has previously dropped “Odd Spring”, “Odd Winter”, “Odd Autumn” & “Odd Summer” over the years but come May 17th, 2011 Mello Music Group will be dropping “Odd Seasons” on remastered vinyl & CD physical editions as one cohesive collection. If you’re as big an Oddisee fan as I am then you know how big a deal this is. 2011 is shaping up quite nicely. SIDEBAR: Random Axe will be dropping in May as well. Just sayin’…

DON’T SLEEP: Oddisee f/Toine of DTMD “Different Now” [VIDEO]

Last year, Mello Music Group dropped an amazing compilation called “Helpless Dreamer”. One of the many excellent songs on the aforementioned release was Oddisee & Toine (DTMD)’s “Different Now”. That song now has a video which I posted on the site Producers I Know because Oddisee is literally a producer I know. Salute the entire DMV. Enjoy the visuals below. What up, Mike?

DON’T SLEEP: Has Lo “In Case I Don’t Make It” [ALBUM]

This post is pretty personal for me because sometime last year our boy producer/emcee Has-Lo was on the air with us on The Scrunchface Show talking about this very same project. Eric & Travis had heard it and swore by it. They hit me off with it and I was floored that a project like this not only didn’t have a home but the previous label owner that heard it balked at releasing it because he didn’t know how to market it.

I would throw his bitchass under the bus but  if you’ve been paying attention you already know whom I’m referring to.That doesn’t matter, what does matter is “In Case I Don’t Make It” reminded us of another classic album that was homeless when we first heard it. That album was called “Gas Mask”. “Gas Mask” has since been regarded as one of the best albums of 2010 by everyone with opinions that actually matter to me.

Mike over at Mello Music Group group heard the album and felt the exact same way we did about it. Now, on March 29th “In Case I Don’t Make It”, an album I’ve been playing for about a year in my headphones will finally be available to the public at large so they too will finally appreciate the brilliance of our boy Has-Lo as much as we already do. Preview the album on iTunes, pre-order it on Amazon or UGHH. In the meantime, peep Has-Lo’s “Antelopes & Lions” mixtape to tide you over until the LP drops on March 29th, 2011.

DON’T SLEEP: Blackberry Jones f/yU of Diamond District “The LifeLine” (Installment 1) [VIDEO]

Back in December 2009, on Rappers I Know I saw a video of BlackBerry Jones do some of the illest chops I seen live in recent memory. He’s back at it but this time he’s pulled the lyricist yU of Diamond District fame (“In The Ruff” & “Before Taxes”) to spit over his creation. The result is illmatic. If you want to keep up with Blackberry Jones follow him on Twitter. Installment 2 soon come…

DON’T SLEEP: Apollo Brown “Never In A Million Years” [VIDEO]

Apollo Brown’s “Clouds” drops everywhere March 1st, 2011. If you didn’t know you can cop it right now on iTunes and in 6 hours you can cop it at every digital music marketplace imaginable and physical copies will be available in every store worth mentioning (shout out to the hometown spot UGHH for always holding us down). Below is a video from one of the best instrumental projects of 2011 and the newest opus from the Producer Of 2010. Fuck who you thought it was. I forgive you, now just go cop “Clouds” & enjoy these visuals below. No sleeping allowed, B…

DON’T SLEEP: Apollo Brown “Clouds” [NEW INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM]

Apollo Brown had an incredible 2011 and judging by “Clouds” he’ll have a great 2011 as well. It’s already been Bloggerhouse approved and it drops on iTunes exclusively 2.22.2011 but everywhere else on 3.1.2011. This instrumental project is yet another sonic quantum leap from the man who previously brought us the stunning instrumental offerings “Skilled Trade” and “Make Do”. Mark my words, “Clouds” will be regarded as a great project years from now, trust me on this. I’m usually right about this kinda shit, after all.
