Languid dropped this ridambdiculous beat tape called “EarFood” a few days ago. I didn’t see it on Strictly Beats, Beat Tape Co-Op, The Find Mag, Word Is Bond, Finest Ego or any other leading beat culture blog either for that matter (PIK isn’t exempt). How the HELL did this beat tape manage to fly under the radar with all of us so called beat culture sites in operation? If I didn’t decide to do this list project yesterday/today who knows when I would’ve finally discovered this? We’ve got to do better. Don’t sleep…

So…Languid and SoulStarr alternated back and forth over this ill ass beat tape called “Relaytionz”. I mean, this jawn SLAPS! Here’s what I don’t get…this beat tape is a month old and it only had 81 likes on Facebook. I didn’t see this jawn on any of the leading beat culture blogs, if I did it would’ve spread. Gloam dropped this beat tape called “Years” back 17 days ago and I haven’t seen it on any of the other prominent beat culture sites yet. I stumbled upon it because I’m finally updating my producers list and when I went to add Gloam to the list and his bandcamp link I saw “Years” and thought to myself “How the hell did I (and everyone else for that matter) miss this 66 beat collection?”. It only had 12 Facebook likes for God’s sake! This is exactly what I’m talking about. Don’t sleep…

Bluezr’s beat tape “fear” is a 22 track project that dropped all the way back in May. This is why I advocate being proactive and following up on beatmakers and producers Bandcamp and SoundCloud pages as opposed to waiting around for emails (or posting submissions from other sites that already posted them before you did)  because for every submission you get there are 3 beat tapes you’ll just stumble upon later that you had no clue about for months. Let’s do more legwork & searching, shall we?

OK. Any of you that have visited PIK long enough know that there are some things I just hate off the top. First off, I hate horrible cover art (I’m aware of this classic scene from “RoboCop” but still…COME ON). Secondly, I absolutely hate direct download releases with no option to stream it first so I can decide whether or not I even want to download it and use some of my precious hard drive space.
