15 year old beatmaking wunderkind Nazzy has been at this for slightly more than a year now. He dropped this beat tape on his Bandcamp at the beginning of the month and told NO ONE. I saw it last night when I just randomly hit sites of cats I’ve featured on the site before and found it. The moral of the story? If you do run a site that highlights beatmakers? Do some work because chances are all of them aren’t going to email you the second they drop something. They rarely do, actually. They often start doing so when you post their material FOR them in my experience, though. Weird, huh? Don’t sleep on “Reuse & Recycle”…

Here’s a new Languid beat tape called “Soulness Side Too” where Languid used Soul/R&B as sample sources. This beat tape features two guest appearances from PIK favorite NegroSaki as well. This shit is dope. Why haven’t none of these beat tape sites posted it yet? Y’all don’t just check people’s SoundCloud’s & Bandcamp’s periodically just in case they posted something up and neglected to email everyone (they don’t have publicists!)? Either way, enjoy this & don’t sleep…

I alerted you all to J-Rell’s upcoming release “UNtitled Noise Instrumentation V2” a few days ago when I posted up his promo video for it. I’ve also showcased previous J-Rell material on PIK. It’s not enough to just post up beat tapes people submit to you or ones you jack directly from other sites. You have to actually go out and at least LOOK for talented beatmakers and/or champion their cause/expose them to others. That being said? DO YOU HEAR THIS SHIT? Don’t sleep on J-Rell on “UNtitled Noise Instrumentation V2″…

Brooklyn emcee and Blu associate Sene is back with his latest full length project “Brooklyknight” on Plug Research. His last project “A Day Late & A Dollar Short” was an overlooked gem and “Brooklyknight” is a step up for Sene as he takes the creative initiative by producing a quarter of the album along with PIK favorite, Dr. Illingsworth, J57, Fonetik Simbol and Nogames. Sene really stepped up to the plate and delivered quite an impressive 13 track album. You can hear/stream “Brooklyknight” here and cop it from iTunes, Amazon, Fat Beats & UGHH right now. Don’t sleep…

Black Milk recently finished his US “Claps&Slaps” Tour alongside J. Pinder and AD.d+. Flud Watches and director Erick Lee traveled with Black Milk throughout the US to document the tour, capturing live performance footage, and more.
Enjoy episode 2 of 3 where Black Milk talks about record diggin and his process sampling records. Director Erick Lee also captured some funny moments while shopping for records with Black Milk and band at Groove Merchant in San Francisco. This was one of the best shows I ever saw live. Up there with Pharaoh Monche & crew, Dam-Funk, Random Axe, Jay Electronica & some others. Don’t sleep…

Whether you first knew her as StaHHr The Femcee or Empress StaHHr she’s always stood out. Whether you first heard her on a Scienz Of Life or a DOOM track as a feature she’s always stood out. Now StaHHr presents her new project, “Mother Nature With A Molotov: Molotov Season” and StaHHr stands out yet again. Not with ridiculous actions designed to grab attention. Nor through histrionics or corporate co-signs. StaHHr stands out using pure talent and ability. The 18 track album not only features production from some PIK favorites like Floyd The Locsmif, Lex Boogie From The Bronx, Astronote, Fonetik Simbol but guest bars from John Robinson, Ekundayo, Boog Brown, C Rayz Walz, Eagle Nebula, Del & Nomadic Poet. The most important element, however? Is StaHHr. Don’t sleep on “Mother Nature With A Molotov: Molotov Season”. The sleeper must awaken!

This particular beat tape comes courtesy of thurge, a beatmaker by way of Tacoma, Washington. He shot me over his debut effort “rain & sample drops”. I think overall this is a good start that shows some clear promise and I can’t wait to see and hear thurge’s progression and growth in the coming years (and when he cuts some four minute plus beats in half). Check out “rain & sample drops”, don’t sleep…
