Fakts One is a DJ, turntablist & producer from the Boston area that was also a member of The Perceptionists along with Akrobatik & Mr. Lif. You may remember when Vast Aire said he just got two ill beats from Fakts? He was referring to Fakts One (and not “Fax” as the documentary says in the subtitles).
Just before The Perceptionists went on tour for “Black Dialogue”, Fakts One decided no to go. Instead Slopfunkdust then Paten Locke DJ’d the tour. In 2008, Fakts One’s “Long Range” project was finally released (I reviewed it) and was well received. About a week ago something interesting happened…
I was on Gmail & I saw Fakts One was following me on Twitter. I was like “Oh shit!” and I followed him back. A few days later I saw a press release and a link for a new Fakts One beat tape called “The Chop Shop” in my inbox. I pressed play and was very impressed by what I’d heard.
