Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am an unadulterated DJ Quik fan. Between Shock G, Sir Jinx, DJ Pooh, DJ Muggs, DJ Quik, Ant Banks, Fredwreck & Battlecat you can’t tell me shit. This is an interesting interview between MURS and DJ Quik that I just decided to post because I wear my fandom on my sleeve. Don’t sleep…

I picked up nostaljak’s new beat tape “Nostaljia” from Strictly Beats. I gave it a listen, liked what I heard and decided to help spread it. Also, there’s nothing wrong with admitting you found beat tapes on another site as humans are born omniscient. Since the overwhelming amount of beatmakers and producers don’t send you emails telling you they made something new you need to go various places on the internet just to find out they did. There’s no shame in it. There’s too much music being released worldwide daily for us all to be abreast of it. In any event, don’t sleep…

I stumbled across this Soulection release while trying to find a way to write my latest Tumblr post from my iPhone. In my Tumblr feed was a post from Soulection about a new release from someone named Kings. I clicked the album cover and it began playing, needless to say I reached for some damb headphones and less than 20 minutes later it led to me making this post about the “Endless Fog EP” on PIK @ 6 AM EST. When I say “Don’t sleep”, I fucking mean it. Enjoy…

Kutmah just dropped a ridiculous beat tape titled “ISWID” that you’re gonna want to slap yourself repeatedly over if you sleep on it. Either you’ll slap yourself repeatedly or I will. I’m sure you’d rather do it yourself because I get a lil’ heavy handed from time to time. Don’t sleep on “ISWID”…

I first heard of Count Bass D back in the early 90’s when Prime Minister Pete Nice & Bobbito Garcia signed him to their imprint label Hoppoh Records and he dropped (or made) the album “Pre Life Crisis”. Since then he had dropped a string of incredible albums and become one of the most respected and revered producer/emcees of the past 15 years. Here’s a trailer for an upcoming documentary about his life and career called “Full Count: A Short Documentary On Count Bass D”. Don’t sleep on it…

Pitchfork made a documentary about Danny Brown and the Bruiser Brigade called “Detroit State Of Mind”. It’s good to see people are finally catching on after we were pushing “Hot Soup”, “The Hybrid” & his “Detroit State Of Mind” mixtape series for years. Now Danny’s on magazine covers and Pitchfork followed him around with cameras. So when we tell y’all about someone y’all gonna LISTEN and pay attention for a change? It goes past cosigns, FWMJ & I KNOW what we’re talking about. Salute to Andres AKA Sweeney Kovar as well. Enjoy the documentary and don’t sleep!

Nocow’s “Ruins Tape” is the latest release on Fauxpas Music. It’s a beat tape consisting of 12 tracks, each track being 1:30 a piece for a total of 18 minutes of music. That’s enough time for Kanye West & Kim Kardashian to enter a studio and make a song so godawful that Barack Obama himself would come out publicly and say that he’s imposing sanctions on Kanye West and the entire Kardashian family as a result. How do I come up with this shit? Don’t sleep…
