DON’T SLEEP: Beatowski Beats “Beat Tape Vol. 0” [FREE BEAT TAPE]
Last year, Latvia producer/beatmaker Beatowski was featured on The Scrunchface Show quite often after “Beat Tape Vol. 1” & “Beat Tape Vol. 2” dropped in late 2010. I’d lost track of Beatowski during the Scrunchface Show’s hiatus so I wasn’t able to play any of it when it dropped back in February as I was planning our Dilla tribute show. I forgot to post it since my bitchass 15″ PowerBook G4 had a serious kernel panic & I moved this folder to an external USB Firewire drive. I found & listened to this last night after the disappointing Celtics overtime loss. Here it is, Beatowski Beats “Beat Tape Vol. 0”. Enjoy…

DON’T SLEEP: Doctor Illingsworth “Tales Of Illingsworth Vol. 1: GOOD LUCK” [NEW PROJECT]
Last year, Doc Illingsworth of Detroit CYDI sent me a folder of roughs with him rapping on them on Twitter and asked for my opinion. I told him that they were fine and he should continue along his path. He recently sent me a Bandcamp link as he uploaded 5 of those selections in a collection called “Tales Of Illingsworth Vol. 1: GOOD LUCK”. Enjoy.

DON’T SLEEP: Kaimbr x Kev Brown “Go Green” (prod. by Kev Brown) [VIDEO]
The physical release of Kaimbr x Kev Brown’s “Alexander Green” LP saw the release of two bonus tracks, the Damu The Fudgemunk “Army Fatigue Rap” remix and on the CD itself a jawn called “Go Green” that they not only performed live on Record Store Day but they filmed a great part of the video that day @ the Fat Beats warehouse/pop up shop. Look out for a gang of cameos including one from me. Visuals for “Go Green” are below. The stakes stay high, but the budget is low:

DON’T SLEEP: LATE PASS DAY: BMB AKA Spacekid “Paramind” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
Russian producer Beat-Maker-Beat dropped this ridiculous instrumental project called “Blue Magic (Draft)” that we all went nuts over. During Christmas week someone shot me a link to a supposedly ill collection of blaps by someone called Spacekid. I was up to my neck in Best Of 2010 lists as it was so I blew it off. Months later, I was checking out an interview with Beat-Maker-Beat and it listed his alias as Spacekid. I’m a dickhead. Kate Nash was right about me. Now go listen to BMB AKA Spacekid’s “Paramind”

DON’T SLEEP: LATE PASS DAY: Insightful “The Flowers In My Mind” [FREE INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
This Insightful instrumental project dropped on New Year’s Day while I was writing several Best Of 2010 lists for Bloggerhouse. During this time, I ended up missing out on one of the best instrumental projects of 2011. IRONY! © Faceman. Insightful “The Flowers In My Mind”. How’d I miss this?

DON’T SLEEP: Willie Evans Jr. “Forced Grin (Squeeze Zombies)” [SINGLE]
Willie Evans Jr. will be dropping a free project called “Billy Lotion” May 25th to prepare to people dem for the arrival of his High Water Music debut “Introducin'” that’s dropping on June 21st (the week after “Random Axe” but the week before Pete Rock x Smif N’ Wessun’s “Monumental”). Below are two versions of the lead single off of “Billy Lotion”, a jawn called “Forced Grin (Squeeze Zombies)”. It’s essentially a flip of an Aloe Blacc song from his Stones Throw release “Good Things” and the vocal version is dedicated to Squeeze Radio which we lost last year. Salute to Willie Evans Jr., Sucio Smash, Paten Locke, Fresh Daily, Homeboy Sandman, DJ Spinna & Senor Kaos. Shout out to the entire High Water Music fam. Enjoy…

DON’T SLEEP: DJ Deadeye f/Slaine, Esoteric, Krumb Snatcha & Ea$y Money “Livin’ Lost” (prod. by DC The Midi Alien) [VIDEO]

This jawn features Slaine, Esoteric (7L & Esoteric), Krumbsnatcha & Ea$y Money on the hook with DC the MIDI Alien behind the boards. Go cop “Substance Abuse”. Salute ST Da Squad!
DON’T SLEEP: DJ Premier f/Dynasty “Epic Dynasty” [VIDEO]
Last year’s Year Round compilation opened quite a few eyes. One of my favorite tracks from said project featured a female emcee named Dynasty and the track was called “Epic Dynasty”. In the tradition of bangers Premo made for Paula Perry, Heather B, MC Lyte, Sonya Blade, Byata and the list goes on Dynasty merked the jawn. The visuals are below. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: fLako “The Mesketet” [NEW INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
fLako was also one of my selections for the old “Producers You Need To Hear Right Now” drops back in my ramen noodle days on Poisonous Paragraphs (except I’m still in my “ramen noodle days” period, whatever…). On Friday, May 6th via Project Mooncircle his new LP “The Mesketet” will be available for purchase and consumption by the record buying and listening public. “The Mesketet” is a collection of fLako’s previously unreleased material dating between 2006-2008. If for some reason you’ve been under a rock and never heard fLako’s “First Space Shit On The Moon”, “Pearls” or “Mini Toolboth” then you’d understand why this is a big damb deal…
In closing, on Friday May 6th, 2011 you will be able to purchase fLako’s “The Mesketet” . Salute Project Mooncircle. Kiss my ass, Rebecca Black. You almost ruined Fridays forever and ever amen.

Be on the lookout for his upcoming LP “Knots” dropping on Paperchain Records, too…

If you’re ready to hear and see the future then press play on the video embedded below but if you choose not to, no matter. “Blaq Poet Society” is coming anyways, it’s an undeniable force of nature that can’t be stopped. Barack Obama might as well declare underground Hip Hop a disaster area in advance for the Tuesday it drops…

DON’T SLEEP: Aspect One “RANDOM: Beats From The MPC 03-07” [BEAT TAPE]
Aspect One & I go back to the old Poisonous Paragraphs days when I was scouring the globe via the internet for every possible producer worth writing about in my “Producers You Need To Hear Right Now” series. After dropping an impressive string of releases including “Vibe Ready”, “Vibe Over” & “Black History” he’s back at it again with a beat tape available for free download called “RANDOM: Beats From The MPC 03-07”.
I had to hear this first before I gave it my endorsement (even though I was pretty sure I was already going to like it), I heard the full jawn and I have to say that it’s official. Download this. I can’t wait to hear what homie’s working on at the moment. Salute.

It’s available now on 7″ vinyl and you can cop the full LP on green vinyl. Get it online. Cop it in physical form. Enjoy.

DON’T SLEEP: Kokayi “Behind The Beat” [VIDEO]
The homie Kokayi sits down with Gadget & the crew @ Digital Hustle to show heads how he gets down in the studio. If you never heard “Robots & Dinosaurs” then punch yourself in the face then cover it up with a bad makeup job and tell everyone on Monday that you either “fell” or “walked into a door”. Someone completely unrelated might get arrested for assault or even battery/domestic abuse but no matter what happens DON’T EVER MENTION ME, OKAY? Enjoy the video…
