DON’T SLEEP: Beat Impressions Vol. 1 [FREE INSTRUMENTAL COMPILATION]

I’ve been hearing these random beats for the past day from producers I’m not really familiar with. Today I discovered that they’re from an international compilation from the label Elements Of Motion via a new post on Finest Ego. Producers from the US, UK, France, Germany, New Zealand, Iceland & Chile all contributed to this compilation. If you donate enough dough to oak@oakmc.de there will be a vinyl edition of this compilation made.

ATTENTION: PRODUCERS & BEATMAKERS! You can contribute tracks to be considered for Beat Impressions Vol. 2 @ beats@oakmc.de . For the love of God, make sure they don’t suck. Now go listen to & download “Beat Impressions Vol. 1”, submit your tracks for consideration for Vol. 2 & salute Germany!

DON’T SLEEP: eLZhi “Halftime” (prod. by Will Sessions) [VIDEO]

Six days away from “eLMATIC”. It’s still halftime! This shit’s gonna be banana nutriment (only Ghostface/Wu heads will get the reference). Visuals are below. I’ve wasted enough empty keystrokes as it is:

DON’T SLEEP: DJ Deadeye f/Slaine, Esoteric, Krumb Snatcha & Ea$y Money “Livin’ Lost” (prod. by DC The Midi Alien) [VIDEO]

This one is for the home team. It was good seeing everyone @ Church back on Friday night for the Brick 15th Anniversary show. This jawn features Slaine, Esoteric (7L & Esoteric), Krumbsnatcha & Ea$y Money on the hook with DC the MIDI Alien behind the boards. Go cop “Substance Abuse”. Salute ST Da Squad!

DON’T SLEEP: Jay Electronica “Dimethyltryptamine” (prod. by J Dilla) [VIDEO]

Hey! Remember that old Dogon Society/Decon Records DVD full of Jay Electronica videos shot by Jason Goldwatch that was supposed to drop years ago that Jay Electronica and Just Blaze were talking about? Yeah, apparently this video is from it. Does anyone wanna ask Jay-Z or Angela Yee or Just Blaze what Jay Electronica is doing at present? I don’t. He said “Patents Of Nobility” was coming. I have no choice to take him at his word. Call me when something happens…

ARE YOU WATCHING CLOSELY?

DON’T SLEEP: DJ Premier f/Dynasty “Epic Dynasty” [VIDEO]

Last year’s Year Round compilation opened quite a few eyes. One of my favorite tracks from said project featured a female emcee named Dynasty and the track was called “Epic Dynasty”. In the tradition of bangers Premo made for Paula Perry, Heather B, MC Lyte, Sonya Blade, Byata and the list goes on Dynasty merked the jawn. The visuals are below. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: fLako “The Mesketet” [NEW INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

fLako was also one of my selections for the old “Producers You Need To Hear Right Now” drops back in my ramen noodle days on Poisonous Paragraphs (except I’m still in my “ramen noodle days” period, whatever…). On Friday, May 6th via Project Mooncircle his new LP “The Mesketet” will be available for purchase and consumption by the record buying and listening public. “The Mesketet” is a collection of fLako’s previously unreleased material dating between 2006-2008. If for some reason you’ve been under a rock and never heard fLako’s “First Space Shit On The Moon”, “Pearls” or “Mini Toolboth” then you’d understand why this is a big damb deal…

In closing, on Friday May 6th, 2011 you will be able to purchase fLako’s “The Mesketet” . Salute Project Mooncircle. Kiss my ass, Rebecca Black. You almost ruined Fridays forever and ever amen.

DON’T SLEEP: GirlGrabbers “The Black Dynamite Beats” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

This jawn was referred to me by the Denver homie Whygee, I gave it a listen and really liked what I heard. The Black Dynamite original soundtrack was as good as the film in my opinion (which is saying a lot). Salute to GirlGrabbers for dropping “The Black Dynamite Beats” AND of course Adrian Younge & The Black Dynamite Orchestra. SIDEBAR: Is there a hipster band named Fiendish Dr. Wu & His Kung Fu Treachery yet? WHY THE HELL NOT?

DON’T SLEEP: Juels “Gems” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

I first saw this free beat tape by Juels on the Beat Creator Escapades site last month but I never posted  it anywhere until I just saw it in the iTunes Library on my 15″ PowerBook G4 (that I need to retire cuz it’s on that Shaquille O’Neal sit on the bench for a month and travel with the team before you even get to practice type steez). I listened to it (while crossing my fingers that there wouldn’t be a kernel panic) and realized that I’d never put i upt on Producers I Know after checking the archives. Here it is, Juels “Gems”. Enjoy…

DON’T SLEEP: Sketch f/DJ I-Dee “Virginia Tec-9” (prod. by J-Scrilla) [SINGLE]

I posted up the Sketch video which was the final single from J-Scrilla’s 2009 “Culture Of Honor” album on Producers I Know not too long ago. In that post, I posted news about Sketch’s upcoming LP. Well, here’s the lead single from said project, “Virginia Tec-9”. The jawn is produced by J-Scrilla of Guns N Butter and Inner Loop Records. Cuts and scratches were performed by former DMC champion DJ I-Dee.

Sketch’s full length album will be released for free this Summer 2011 via Inner Loop Records on a date TBD with guest appearances from Roc Marciano (The UN), K-Beta (Inner Loop Records), Nipsey Hussle, and others. The official “Virginia Tec-9” music video directed by 1st Impressions Studios soon come…

DON’T SLEEP: Scratch 22 “Distance From View” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Straight outta Auckland! Comes a producer named Scratch 22 that made an instrumental project so bananas that I completely forgot to even post the bish up! I’d been listening to it on Bandcamp ever since catching it on Finest Ego but I forgot to actually inform others about it. Here it is, the utterly ridiculous face melting collection of instrumental illness that is Scratch 22’s “Distance From View”. I hope you’re all wearing clean underwear out there, people…

DON’T SLEEP: Ta-Ku x New Balance x Highs And Lows “Day & Night EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Ta-Ku AKA Flip has dropped some of my favorite projects in recent memory such as “June” (w/ Haz Beats), “Tribute: Dilla”, “Synth You’ve Been Gone”, “Beat Sketches Vol. 1”, “24” and now this instrumental project promoting the new New Balances designed by Highs And Lows (HAL) called the “Day & Night EP” featuring 14 beats that will make you wanna moonsault kick a baby panda just for being too damb cute. Be on the lookout for his upcoming LP “Knots” dropping on Paperchain Records, too…

DON’T SLEEP: John Ozzy Smith “Johnsons 5” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

Hol’ up! HOL’ UP! © Martin Payne. John Ozzy Smith. The same John Ozzy Smith from YouTube AND Soundcloud hadn’t put out a beat tape yet? In which case John Ozzy Smith shows a lot of potential with his first official collection of slaps. In about 2 or 3 years time, he’ll officially be a monster. Check out “Johnsons 5” and keep in mind homie is still a damb teenager. Scary…

DON’T SLEEP: DJ Primate “The Beast Tape 2” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

Last year, DJ Primate hit us off with “The Beast Tape”. This year? DJ Primate smacks us all across the collective face with “The Beast Tape 2”. This jawn is sicker than a Jay Electronica verse over a Nottz beat. It’s a free download and you’ll get 2 extra slaps that aren’t up on the Bandcamp page. If you use vocal samples from Afu Ra’s “Whirlwind Thru Cities” & Masta Ace Inc’s “Da Mad Wunz” on the same beat tape then how can you go wrong, B?

DON’T SLEEP: Stu Bangas & Vanderslice Break Down “Blaq Poet Society” [VIDEO]

Come June 21st, the production duo known as Brutal Music (Stu Bangas & Vanderslice) will unleash Hell on an unsuspecting populace in the form of Blaq Poet’s Brick records release “Blaq Poet Society”. If you’re ready to hear and see the future then press play on the video embedded below but if you choose not to, no matter. “Blaq Poet Society” is coming anyways, it’s an undeniable force of nature that can’t be stopped. Barack Obama might as well declare underground Hip Hop a disaster area in advance for the Tuesday it drops…

DON’T SLEEP: Aspect One “RANDOM: Beats From The MPC 03-07” [BEAT TAPE]

Aspect One & I go back to the old Poisonous Paragraphs days when I was scouring the globe via the internet for every possible producer worth writing about in my “Producers You Need To Hear Right Now” series. After dropping an impressive string of releases including “Vibe Ready”, “Vibe Over” & “Black History” he’s back at it again with a beat tape available for free download called “RANDOM: Beats From The MPC 03-07”.

I had to hear this first before I gave it my endorsement (even though I was pretty sure I was already going to like it), I heard the full jawn and I have to say that it’s official. Download this. I can’t wait to hear what homie’s working on at the moment. Salute.

DON’T SLEEP: Wizard “What Should I Be” [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Also be on the lookout for his upcoming project “Chill Pill 3” which will drop later on this summer. Runteldat! © Martin Lawrence BEAT FANATIC!

DON’T SLEEP: Kokayi “Behind The Beat” [VIDEO]

The homie Kokayi sits down with Gadget & the crew @ Digital Hustle to show heads how he gets down in the studio. If you never heard “Robots & Dinosaurs” then punch yourself in the face then cover it up with a bad makeup job and tell everyone on Monday that you either “fell” or “walked into a door”. Someone completely unrelated might get arrested for assault or even battery/domestic abuse but no matter what happens DON’T EVER MENTION ME, OKAY? Enjoy the video…
