DON’T SLEEP: Skyence “Unbalanced (Unreleased Works From 2000-2007)” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
This is dope. It’s also proof that good music is timeless as there’s no way to tell how old these compositions are without them telling us in the album title or on the Bandcamp page. Here’s Skyence’s “Unbalanced (Unreleased Works From 2000-2007)”, don’t sleep on it…

DON’T SLEEP: Hudson Mohawke x Keri Hilson x Lil’ Wayne “Turn Me Off” (prod. by Hudson Mohawke) [REMIX]
Hudson Mohawke‘s “Satin Panthers EP” drops on August 1st/2nd, 2011 via Warp Records but here’s a remix he did of Keri Hilson’s Lil’ Wayne featured single called “Turn Me Off” that I thought was ill. Enjoy (or don’t):

DON’T SLEEP: Nico The Beast “Pain” (prod. by Kornswagger) [SINGLE]
New heat from the homie Nico The Beast produced by Kornswagger. I can’t wait to hear what dude comes up with on his upcoming album. Nico is hands down one of the most resilient human beings I know and he ain’t bad at rappin’ either. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: MIMS x Dibia$e “Live In Montreal (7.8.2011) @ Monde Ose Factory” [AUDIO + VIDEO]
On July 8th, the homie Dibia$e performed in Montreal @ the joint Music Is My Sanctuary/ArtBeat event with DJ Lexis of MIMS (that’s how all of these blogs got the audio & footage from said event plus why you see an MIMS in the lower right hand corner of the artwork above) plus Guilty and a live beat set by Shash’u. I know the West Coast Llamas (Nasrockwell & Dibia$e) thoroughly enjoyed Montreal & murked a fair amount of poutine while they were there.
The Monde Ose Factory looked live as hell based on this footage Lexis provided of the event. I know Dibia$e enjoyed his time there and he even played beats from his project sampling 90’s R&B that we talked about on The Scrunchface Show a while back! Word. Salute Lexis of Music Is My Sanctuary for providing the content. I saw that because I’ve seen this up on several sites where they neglected to do any legwork or even credit MIMS. Without any further ado, I present to you all the star of the show:

Here is some classic footage of Louisden Beat Cypher #7 from September 2009 shot by AB0181 featuring Team PIK members Apatight, Naive AKA Naive Machine, Dockmini & UK beatmaker Knox Brown. This shit blew my mind when I first saw it back in ’09 and now I’m privileged to work with these cats and help spread their names worldwide. Don’t sleep!

When Stu Bangas let me hear an early version of this jawn after Roc Marciano sent his verse. After hearing the full version with Wais The P on it, it’s even sicker now. Here it is, y’all:

DON’T SLEEP: Jomac “Jomac Files” [NEW PRODUCERS I KNOW MEMBER PAGE]
We first had Jomac appear on an early episode of The Scrunchface Show. SFS #30: The Exclusives Show to be exact. I remember Jomac being nervous but his music spoke for itself. I was floored. Enough so, that I closely monitored his progression from that eye opening showcase. When I made the (no brainer) decision to select M Slago for Team PIK last month, I knew the obvious decision for the next spot had to be Jomac based on his incredible output since last December.
We hit heads with a little misdirection by posting up his sickening new beat tape on Bandcamp earlier today to throw y’all off the scent but please officially welcome Jomac to Team PIK. Salute Team PIK. Jon Phonics. Apatight. Pete Cannon. Dockmini. Naive. D-Man. Shag. M Slago. Jomac. So far who to add has been a no brainer and on August 12th we announce the 10th member of Team PIK. Salute Jomac. Welcome to the crew, fam!

DON’T SLEEP: Steve Arrington x Dam-Funk “Goin’ Hard” (prod. by Dam-Funk) [SINGLE]
I saw Dam-Funk perform in Allston, MA last year and he did all his joints from “Toeachizown” in addition to spinning some classics. Then he played this song “Goin’ Hard” he was working on with the frontman of Slave Steve Arrington that he claimed would be dropping soon on Stones Throw. After the show, I talked to Dam and asked him how the collab came about and when to expect to cop it. He said he was hoping for it to be out before 2010 was up. It’s July 2011, I just posted it on my site and it was worth the wait to hear it again. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: [FLASHBACK] “Mabanua Makes A Beat” [BEAT VIDEO]
Back in 2008, this YouTube video of one of my favorite Japanese producers/multi instrumentalists Mabanua surfaced. Mabanua goes through the entire beatmaking process until we reach the end result, a funky ass slap. Later on that year, Mabanua released on of the most overlooked Hip Hop/modern Soul project of the past 5 years, “Done Already”. If you slept, I’ll be your alarm clock.

DON’T SLEEP: The Boomjacks “Beats Vol. 3” [BEAT TAPE]
Comin’ straight outta Finland! Two crazy muthafuckas called The Boomjacks”! That’s all I’ve got. They recently dropped a beat tape called “Beats Vol. 3”. They dropped “Beats Vol. 1” & “Beats Vol. 2” earlier this year. I missed them but you can catch up by visiting The Boomjacks Bandcamp page. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: TheEnginear “RCT Beat Tape Vol. 1” [BEAT TAPE]
There’s a student in Atlanta with FL Studio that’s making beats that smash the shit they play on the radio nonstop. His name is TheEnginear and he just dropped this ridiculous collection of recent beats called the “RCT Beat Tape Vol. 1”. This beat tape is so sick it makes we wanna rip the tags off my mattresses, give my mailman the People’s Elbow then attempt to put a bedazzled dollar sign doo rag and a TapOut tee on a grizzly bear. Which reminds me…I need to get a passport. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Finest Ego x Project Mooncircle “UK/Ireland Compilation” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
I’ve loved the previous Finest Ego regional producer compilations but dare I say that this edition is the one I’d be the most partial to. Why? Because it features so many of my favorite producers and beatmakers from across the pond such as Mr. Beatnick, Jay Scarlett, fLaKo, Danny Drive Thru, Kelpe, Om Unit, Sert One & S-Type. Go to Project Mooncircle’s Bandcamp right now and prepare to get your damb minds blown. The official release on cassette & digitally is August 5th. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Jneiro Jarel “It Lives On (Part Two)” (prod. by Jneiro Jarel) [SINGLE]
This particular song was written, performed & produced by Jneiro Jarel as a tribute to the life and music of Dilla. If you go to the Bandcamp itself and read the back story it will all make sense. Go listen to Jneiro Jarel’s “It Lives On (Part Two)”. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Jomac “Meditative: Beat Set 2” [BEAT TAPE]
My boy Jomac has been featured on Producers I Know several times in the past and here he is to fuck your heads up again. 16 slaps that speak with thunder called “Meditative: Beat Set 2”. Had I named it, it would’ve been called “Music To Smack Fire Outta Muthafucka To”. I’ll defer to Jomac. Go listen and spazz the hell out to it. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: FRSH SLCTS x DaveNotti “The Neck Brace III EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]
Last year, the legendary DJ/producer Exile alongside producer DaveNotti took part in a live producer showcase in Portland, OR in association with Humble Beast Records called the Neck Brace Producer Showcase. Also in attendance were Xperiment, Theory Hazit, DJ Flip Flop & DaiN contributing live beats. The end result is “The Neck Brace III EP”, a live instrumental EP. In order to fully appreciate this project in the spirit it was originally intended, you need to get over to FRSH SLCTS to not only download & listen to the audio but see the live footage of this event. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Roc Marciano “Marcberg Instrumentals” [INSTRUMENTALS]
One of the best (if not THE best) albums of 2010 was “Marcberg”. It’s a masterpiece, lyrically, thematically, sonically and the execution was pretty much flawless. There was a vinyl only “Marcberg EP” that featured some of the instrumentals a while back but now you can cop all the “Marcberg” instrumentals without fear that Dart Adams will send a team of technologically savvy ninjas to your rest so they can stand you up as a punch you in the face for trying to make your own instrumentals. It happens. Cop the “Marcberg Instrumentals” from either Amazon or iTunes. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Eternia & MoSS “At Last” [INSTRUMENTALS]
One of the best albums of 2010 was Eternia & MoSS’ Fat Beats release “At Last”, hands down. Now they’ve finally dropped MoSS’ insane instrumentals via iTunes so you can finally possess those slaps that Eternia spit hot fiyah over legally. We all know that the most far fetched scenario is some zealous instrumentals loving Just Blaze mad scientist cat could’ve possibly used ProTools to meticulously digitally scrub Eternia’s vocals out and just leave the instrumentals.
In which case, I’d want to commend him for his brilliance and shake his hand and wanna punch you him the face for erasing Eternia’s vocals simultaneously. I’d feel really conflicted about that. I’m pretty sure if E’s reading this she might say something to the effect of “Aww, Dart! That’s sweet…I think”. In any event, the “At Last” instrumentals are available right now via iTunes. Cop ’em. Don’t sleep & salute the homie Sav One!

DON’T SLEEP: Tabernacle MCz (Born Allah & Panama Redd) f/Aceyalone “West, West” [SINGLE]
Unless you’ve been under a rock you’ll be familiar with Good Life Cafe and Project Blowed vet Born Allah. Considering how many Wake Up show freestyles he ripped and the vinyl he’s dropped in his career you had to be aware of him. On Twitter last night, he let me know that he had some new material and a new project dropping. I gave him the email, he sent the one sheet and the two singles. I HEARD them both and now I’m writing this post. That’s all it takes.
This particular single is called “West, West” and features former Good Life Cafe alum, Freestyle Fellowship member and Project Blowedian Aceyalone. The LP “B-Boy Prophecies: The Book Of Him-Othy” will feature production from Thayod Ausar & Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra Creative Partners) and assistance from fellow Project Blowedians Medusa & Aceyalone plus Lord Jamar (Brand Nubian). Get ready to put your money in the collection plate when the full length drops digitally August 30th, 2011. Don’t sleep!

Go here to get details on the contest that closes on July 31st, 2011. No more window love! GO! © Kenny
