There was this ill event in Germany called “Beat Fight” sponsored by Berlin based Splash! Magazine. It featured a gang of my favorite producers, problem is that all of the coverage I saw of said event online was usually in German. All I could glean from the event was Dexter of Melting Pot Music won the whole jawn. Fathom 9 JUST sent me a link to a Carminelitta post about said project (which dropped yesterday) not too long ago. I had to sit down and give “Blue Notes From A Brown Soul…” a real listen and it goes without saying that this isn’t absolutely brilliant. I wouldn’t term this a beat tape, more like an instrumental album consisting of compositions that exist for no purpose other than listening and appreciating the music. This projects asking price is only $3. Given what I heard, it’s worth at least 3 times that amount. Support those that make quality material as opposed to buying that drek on the radio when it becomes available on iTunes. Rant over. DON’T SLEEP…
