I was listening to NTS Radio earlier because the homie S Type had a live set where he played some exclusives. After his set was over I heard an incredible song from someone named Jonti that the DJ said was available for free on the Stones Throw site.This sounds like the type of track you put in the score of an indie movie. Once I found it, I played it for 30 minutes straight to get it out of my system so I could finally make this post. His “Firework Spraying Moon”/”Begone Slumber” 7″ drops in August but his LP “Twirligig” doesn’t come out until the Fall. There’s a video for it as well. Enjoy (or don’t)…

The first time I ever heard the name Paradime was back when I was a fan of Federation Records when S.U.N., Da Brigade, Paradime, Eminem, Bizarre and Da Ruckus were killin’ shit between 1998-2000. Paradime has been working on his new album for quite a while now (which is understandable cuz dude is busy) and to reward us all for being so (not) patient, he’ll hit us off with a new jawn every Friday. There was this ill event in Germany called “Beat Fight” sponsored by Berlin based Splash! Magazine. It featured a gang of my favorite producers, problem is that all of the coverage I saw of said event online was usually in German. All I could glean from the event was Dexter of Melting Pot Music won the whole jawn. DON’T SLEEP: Fathom 9 “Blue Notes From A Brown Soul Vol. 1: Sounds 4 Sojourners” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Fathom 9 JUST sent me a link to a Carminelitta post about said project (which dropped yesterday) not too long ago. I had to sit down and give “Blue Notes From A Brown Soul…” a real listen and it goes without saying that this isn’t absolutely brilliant. I wouldn’t term this a beat tape, more like an instrumental album consisting of compositions that exist for no purpose other than listening and appreciating the music. This projects asking price is only $3. Given what I heard, it’s worth at least 3 times that amount. Support those that make quality material as opposed to buying that drek on the radio when it becomes available on iTunes. Rant over. DON’T SLEEP…
