DON’T SLEEP: Bhonstro “Clouds In A Can EP” [BEAT TAPE]

Bhonstro AKA Bhon of Audio Ink outta Las Vegas just recently dropped a 16 slap beat tape called “Clouds In A Can EP” that’s pretty dope. Check for his previous work including his collaboration with Elaquent “Self I Am”. This is the type of shit I run across on Twitter, B…

DON’T SLEEP: QKnox “QNas” [FREE REMIX PROJECT]

QKnox of GirlGrabbers out of Denver made a remix project comprised of 15 Nas jawns and called it “QNas”. I likes! I decided to post it up once everyone else got hit with that ‘itis around the way. I could probably just walk into people’s apartments and just take shit right now. What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, peep this QKnox “QNas” jawn. I’mma try to come up real quick…

DON’T SLEEP: Ill The Essence “Live a EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

I’d term this Ill The Essence jawn an instrumental project more than a beat tape, especially since it was created live using an SP 505. This project comes courtesy of Japanese label Beat Train Records. Shoutout to the homie Bugseed once again with the assist. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Funky Drummer “7th Sky'” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Yet another Free Crates release, Russian beatmaker Funky Drummer’s “7th Sky”. This DJ Bloodbeats cat outta Germany (or Russia?) who handles A&R for Free Crates is on his job. Keep it up, homie…

DON’T SLEEP: Luv Jonez “Show N Tell” [BEAT TAPE]

Luv Jonez dropped this beat tape a while back but I’m just catching up to it and posting it now. Better late than never…actually that phrase doesn’t always apply. In any event, check out Luv Jonez Bandcamp & peep “Show N Tell”

DON’T SLEEP: TightMike “Bobbin’ & Weavin” [BEAT TAPE]

Right after I post up Memorecks’ beat tape I got a few emails from people asking me why I didn’t post up TightMike’s stuff up, too. It turns out both of them are from Canada (TightMike’s from Vancouver) and since I posted up one Canadian beatmaker’s project today I need to check out another one’s work. I liked what I heard so I decided to post up TightMike’s “Bobbin’ & Weavin’” as well. Now stop making suggestions for dope beatmakers, I’m trying to finish writing something over here! DAMB!

DON’T SLEEP: Memorecks “Camcorder” [BEAT TAPE]

My boy @eyanj was talnbout this beat tape like it cured Cancer on Twitter a while back so I wrote the name “Memorecks” down and forgot about it (receiving a folder full of new exclusive K-Def beats will do that to you). Early this morning (and I mean dopefiend early…) I went on Tumblr to write a new piece on Bastard Swordsman and while I’m navigating a sea of quotes, ass, titties, animated GIF’s, internet memes & dedications to Gil Scott-Heron I saw a video of a Memorecks beat called “Cartridge” that @eyanj reblogged. After seeing and hearing that I dropped down & got my Google on. I heard “Camcorder” and said “Well damb!” to myself. I wish I could give you this feelin’ © Kanye West. Oh wait, I CAN.

DON’T SLEEP: Vanilla “High Life” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Vanilla’s “High Life” walks that fine line between instrumental project & beat tape the same way Wendy Williams occupies the man/woman or human/animal worlds simultaneously (I maintain that “Wendy” is just a nickname for “Wendigo”). Much like Wendy Williams fresh out the creek with a fish in her mouth, this Vanilla “High Life” project is hella funky. Go listen to this bish (no Oprah)…

DON’T SLEEP: ill.sugi “Ho-Bo Beat Tape” [BEAT TAPE]

Someone hit me with this via DM on Twitter because I posted the Bugseed x ill.sugi collabo project so early on Producers I Know late last night. I finally saw it & unzipped it about an hour ago. Let me just say that in this era of instrumental projects masking themselves as beat tapes, beat tapes being passed off as instrumental projects and dumbasses rapping on instrumental projects thinking their beat tapes it’s refreshing to see a damb beat tape get CALLED a damb beat tape. Am I ranting? © Beau Sia. Just download this one, no Bandcamp, just a Mediafire link. Go! GET TO THE CHOPPER! © Insert random Arnold Schwartzeneggar action character name here (i.e. Dutch or John Matrix)

DON’T SLEEP: Stak “Люди Сувениры Intrumentals” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Yet another Free Crates release I really like. This Stak instrumental collection “Люди Сувениры Intrumentals” reminds me of many of the projects I loved & bought during the whole Electronica Explosion (1997-2000) that existed alongside the Backpack Era (1997-2002). Back then, Hip Hop cats were also heavy into DJ Shadow, DJ Spooky, DJ Krush, DJ Food, DJ Vadim, Roni Size & Reprazent, Goldie, Lemon D, Dilinja, Tricky, etc. I have no idea what the fuck Stak’s album title translates to but I know I like what I’m hearing. Go listen to it & download if you like but I’d prefer you at least pay a $1 for it.

DON’T SLEEP: Looping presents Yesterday’s New Quintet “Angles Without Edges Revisited” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

10 years ago, Stones Throw released a Madlib LP under the new Yesterday’s New Quintet called “Angles Without Edges”. That very same album was one of my favorite releases of the 00’s. Today, I discovered that someone named/called Looping had gone and remixed it. “SACRILEGE!” I thought to myself, then I heard it and thought “Hey, this is pretty damb good. Looping can live…”. Go stream Looping presents Yesterday’s New Quintet “Angles Without Edges Revisited” right damb now…

DON’T SLEEP: Beat Culture “Ginzu Waterway EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Beat Culture’s “Ginza Waterway EP” was the one project on their Bandcamp that captured my imagaination the most when I first visited it last night. I gave all the other projects a listen again with fresh ears but the winner is still “Ginza Waterway EP”. Click on the link and hear it for yourselves. Or don’t. It’s a free country (kinda, at least…)

DON’T SLEEP: Screw “Come Through EP” [BEAT TAPE]

I went out for a while after hearing about the passing of Gil Scott-Heron to let that news wash over me. When I got back home, I decided to get back to work doing what I do. I ran across this beat tape on the Bandcamp of German or Russian (?) digital label Free Crates (amongst others), Screw’s “Come Through” was exactly what I needed to hear at the time. I’ll post some of the other jawns later on but I have to do some writing on Bastard Swordsman this morning…

DON’T SLEEP: Nastyface “October” [BEAT TAPE]

Nastyface’s “October” beat tape is some of the illest shit I’ve heard this week. I had to hop on my brother’s MacBook in his studio to find the link. I’m surprised I discovered this one before my other beathead blogging friends did. This jawn makes me kinda sad we won’t be doing The Scrunchface Show this Friday. Listen to Nastyface “October” via his Bandcamp page.

DON’T SLEEP: Arze Kareem “Akstrumentals Vol. 1 & 2” [BEAT TAPES]

I stumbled across this on the internet @ 6 AM this morning. A Latvian beatmaker/producer meshed together Trip Hop with a Mantronik/Schooly D/Ced Gee aesthetic to come up with 12 beats that’ll make you say “Who made this again?”. Check out “Akstrumentals Vol. 1 & 2” and form your own opinion…

DON’T SLEEP: Mr. 5 O’Clock “Cool Kidd” (prod. by MosEL) [VIDEO]

Mr. 5 O’Clock spits fire over an ill ass MosEL beat. This jawn is hotter than Jurnee Smollett oil wrestling Rekha Sharma. Use Google or IMDb if you don’t know who I’m talking about. Whichever you prefer…

DON’T SLEEP: Tanya Morgan f/Che Grand, King Mez & Skyzoo “Without Hands” (prod. by Veterano) [VIDEO & SINGLE]

WOOOOOOOO! THIS SHIT IS MORE RETARDED THAN THAT DUDE CORKY FROM THE TV SHOW “LIFE GOES ON”. OH SHIT, I THINK I JUST REALIZED WHY I’LL NEVER BE INCLUDED IN A BEST MUSIC WRITING BOOK. WHY THE FUCK AM I YELLING? OH, THAT’S RIGHT…CUZ THIS SONG RIDES THE SHORT BUS, ROCKS A FOAM HELMET & LICKS THE WINDOW. I’M GOING TO HELL FOR THIS POST, AIN’T I?

DON’T SLEEP: Wu Tang Clan f/RZA “Only The Rugged Survive” (prod. by Noah Rubin) [SINGLE]

There’s a “Wu Tang” album called “Legendary Weapons” dropping June 28th with production by Fizzy Womack (Lil’ Fame for the slow), Noah Rubin & Andrew Kelly. This site is called Producers I Know and I have NO clue who the fuck either of these dudes are. Why lie? Music done by The Revelations whom I think were on the Wu Tang Chamber Music album which was surprisingly dope. Appearances by RZA, Method Man, Cappadonna, Inspectah Deck, U-God & Ghostface Killah are confirmed but no word on guest appearances as of yet. The project will drop on E1 Music if you were wondering about the label situation (I know I was…)

DON’T SLEEP: Drums & Ammo f/C-Plus “Go In” (prod. by REL) & DaVinci “Round Me” (prod. by Al Jieh) [VIDEOS]

These are all derived from instrumentals off SWTBRDS “Drums & Ammo Vol. 1” instrumental project which will have an EP where emcees spit over corresponding tracks. That’s what’s up! Here is the first video my dumb ass slept on alongside the newest jawn that just dropped today (which brings the current total to four as of the writing of this post). Be on the lookout for the SWTBRDS Drums & Ammo EP that will tie in the songs and videos next month. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: KuroiOto “M.A.X.WELLNESS” EP [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

William Ketchums, a fellow Hip Hop writer whom I known going back to the old AllHipHop.com days (back then I was PoisonousDart *shudders*) just put me onto this BLATPack members release. In it, he takes 8 Maxwell songs and flips them into slaps. Since I didn’t find this on my own and it’s not a Bandcamp link I’ll just send the traffic to MichiganHipHop.com where you can download it for yourselves. Go here NOW.

DON’T SLEEP: Random Axe (Sean Price x Guilty Simpson x Black Milk) “Random Call” (prod. by Black Milk) [SINGLE]

Random Axe’s next single (they’re NOT leaks, people. Leaks don’t have cover art & aren’t provided in links endorsed by the artists’ own record label. Fuck outta here with that!) is the eerie and foreboding “Random Call”. As someone that’s been playing this album for months now (I’m using the original cover art on my iPod Touch) I can imagine the torture you’re all going through waiting to hear the full project. I guarantee you it will all be worth it. In any event, here’s “Random Call”. You’ve heard “Monster Babies”, “The Hex” & now “Random Call”. There’s records that are so much more ridiculous than these still left on the album, too. Cop “Random Axe” June 14th. Don’t make me track your IP addresses, find you all individually then put your grandpa into a kimura because you didn’t….

DON’T SLEEP: Nasrockswell x Decay “Let Her Have It (Cereal Pt. 2)” [SINGLE]

New Green Llama Crew music! Nasrockswell on the beat. Decay on the rhymes. I digs this. I can’t wait to hear more Green Llama music in the near future. Don’t sleep on Nasrockswell, she’s NICE behind the boards.

DON’T SLEEP: Samiyam “Cushion” (prod. by Samiyam) [SINGLE]

This album first got announced months ago but the official lead single has finally been announced. It’s called “Cushion” and you can hear it here. After I first heard this, I sat in front of my door waiting for the advance like Scott Pilgrim waiting for Ramona Flowers to deliver his package from Amazon.ca (Shut up, I loved the graphic novels AND the the movie). Samiyam’s “Sam Baker’s Album” drops on Brainfeeder June 28th. I can’t wait, B…
