DON’T SLEEP: Soulful! f/XO “Mind Right” [EXCLUSIVE SINGLE]

Soulful is a member of Inner Loop Records’ impressive inhouse production team and he dropped one of last year’s most impressive instrumental projects in “The Mellow Life”. This year Inner Loop Records x Producers I Know will present to the world his next effort “Mumbosauce & Drumbreaks”. When I lived in Baltimore I first learned of mumbo sauce, I also discovered that no one knew exactly what was in it and those that knew were bound by honor to never disclose the secret.

The first offering from this forthcoming opus is produced by Soulful! and features XO of Diamond District & Studio 43 on vocals. The track is titled “Mind Right” and here’s hoping you all get your minds right for when “Mumbosauce & Drumbreaks” drops on January 31st, 2011. DON’T SLEEP: Chanes “Basement Classics” [NEW ALBUM]

The homie Chanes dropped some of the most impressive releases of 2010 with his instrumental project “Experiments In Instrumentation” and the criminally slept on Moe Dirdee album “M.O.E. (Mark Of Excellence”).  Chanes has started out 2011 with “Basement Classics”, a collection of tracks he previously produced for many of Detroit’s finest that you may have slept on. A project you should look forward to in 2011 is the Marv Won x Chanes “The Last Hope” project. It’s shaping up to be insane, mark my words. If you somehow managed to sleep on Chanes previous to today I’m glad to break that streak of obliviousness. You’re good now.

DON’T SLEEP: Dylan Thomas “Stevie’s Soul Sounds” [FREE INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

One of my favorite emcee/producers of the past five years is Milwaukee’s own Dylan Thomas. Dylan has just dropped his new instrumental project “Stevie’s Soul Sounds” yesterday via Bandcamp. If some of you aren’t familiar with his previous work then you really need to check out his old instrumental projects “The Vero Project” & “And It Was Good” or his recent production on he & Haz Solo’s collaboration “All Jokes Aside”,  JC Poppe’s “Sleep Therapy”, The House Of M’s “The Alternate Reality Of..” or OneSelf’s “I Of The Storm”. If this serves as your introduction to the production of Dylan Thomas then it’s a damn good one. The sleeper must awaken. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: magOwl “Page One” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Stockholm, Sweden’s own magOwl is a LouisDen Beat Battle regular as well as an ill producer. I’d admired his slaps for a while now but when I heard this project a couple of weeks ago I knew I had to include it in my end of year Top 100 instrumental LP’s and Top 100 Beat Tapes of 2010 post on Bloggerhouse. The project I’m referring to, of course, is none other than magOwl‘s “Page One”. Stream it from his Bandcamp page. Cop it. Do whatever the hell you must. Just don’t sleep on him anymore. DON’T SLEEP: Jazz Addixx “The Intermission Vol. 2” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT & VIDEOS]

My DMV peoples, Bloggerhouse favorites and The Scrunchface Show regulars Jazz Addixx (DJ Ragz, MUDD & ST/MiC) all got together @ ST/MiC’s Timeless Daimyo Studios in Charlottesville, VA on the weekend of December 3rd-5th just to chill and make some beats. By the weekend’s close they’d fucked around and made an entire album. MUDD rocked his trusty Ensoniq ASR 10 while DJ Ragz & ST/MiC opted for the Akai MPC 2000 XL and 13 tracks later they had a full project on their collective hands. They also recorded footage of the sessions and the end result is the Gorilla Fist Clothing sponsored new Jazz Addixx release “The Intermission Vol. 2”

The Bandcamp preview link has been provided already but here are a few promo videos shot by the guys themselves (shout out to The Unknown) featuring a few selections from the project, namely “MUDD’s “Radio”, DJ Ragz’ “Around 11” & ST/MiC’s “Mission Airy”. Enjoy & cop “The Intermission Vol. 2”.

Shortly afterwards, he announced his Kickstarter campaign for the project titled “Slowdrifter” slated for release on 1.25.11. The following track “Prophet” is the project’s lead single and based on the previous material I’ve heard from dude I can’t wait to hear the full length. Enjoy:

M Slago has become one of my favorite producers of 2010 and this single he hit us off with from the upcoming “Rampage EP” has nothing to change that fact. I played this jawn on the the last broadcast of “Bloggerhouse presents The Scrunchface Show” and it banged like Rachel McAdams (or her body double’s) backyard in that GIF that currently has the internet goin’ nuts (no Paul Wall). Here it is for your listening pleasure, “Run For Cover”. Get a damb neckbrace (and just to be safe, wear a condom). Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: Realm Organization “Life Analysis 1.5: The Reboot” [NEW MIXTAPE]

In the mid 90’s, the Boston Hip Hop group Relentless broke up and went their separate ways. Later on, they formed a new crew, different groups and a new indie label called xnr inc. (xtensive nterprises inc.) after Tomax & Xamot’s corporation in the “G.I. Joe” cartoons. The spelling was to insure they wouldn’t be sued by either Hasbro, Sunbow Productions or Marvel Comics later on. One of the groups on said label was called Realm Organization and they were going to name their album “Life Analysis” since “Realm” is an acronym for “Relentless Everlasting Analyzing Life’s Meaning”. In 1999, they secured a deal with a local indie label and they began recording the “Life Analysis” LP while crew member DYS was making noise in the scene, ultimately becoming affiliated with local legends Krumbsnatcha and later freestyle champion and former Concrete Click member KT and his K-Munications label.

In the Summer of ’99, the main studio of xnr inc. & home of the crew’s main producer Buctayla located at 487 Mass Ave in the South End of Boston was one of the less than 200 rent controlled units left in the city thus the vote for keeping rent control failed miserably. The tenants of said unit were given weeks to vacate their home of almost 25 years. This greatly affected the crew as Nasarok eventually also moved and it affected Buctayla & Nasarok’s ability to finish the album. Eventually, life intervened as Nasarok moved to Hawaii & Buctayla and Cardi teamed up to focus on production now that they both had children to support. Crew member DYS was incarcerated at the time so everything was in a holding pattern for years with the crew. Fast forward to today.

With the wonders of modern technology, Buctayla & Nasarok have been able to not only recover some of their old finished tracks from the original 1999 “Life Analysis” sessions but record brand new material to go with it. The result? Realm Organization “Life Analysis 1.5: The Reboot”. In the future, expect the full release of the 1999 opus “Life Analysis” as well as a few instrumental projects from Buctayla’s MPC circa the same era in addition to DYS’ mixtape “Live From 617” in January. This site is is called “Producers I Know” and there is no other producer I know better than he. He’s my brother. Don’t sleep:
