DON’T SLEEP: Onra “Chinoiseries Pt. 2 Promo Trailer” [PROMO VIDEO]

Onra has decided to make a sequel for one of his most storied and loved albums “Chinoiseries”. After making repeated trips to Asia and copping more Vietnamese and Chinese records it only made sense to make another edition. He’s also made collaborative albums with Quetzal (“Tribute”) and Byron The Aquarius (“The Big Payback”) in addition to “Chinoiseries”, “1.0.8” & last year’s Boogie Funk inspired “Long Distance” but anticipation for “Chinoiseries Pt. 2” is already through the roof even though it was JUST announced officially today. Look for it November 15th, 2011 on All City Records. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP: Midnight Eez “Midnight Eez EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

The story goes that DJ Splyce (the founder of All City Records in Dublin) was visiting the old Fat Beats location in Manhattan when he was approached by a Bronx based production duo back in either 1995 or 1996. They heard he was an out of town DJ and they hit him off with a tape with their name “Midnight Eez” on it & a pager number. Supposedly, DJ Splyce didn’t find said tape until recently during a recent move. He heard the tape and decided to give it a proper release on All City. The cover is photographed by Hip Hop photojournalism legend Suekwon who also doesn’t know or remember Midnight Eez’ identity. Hmmm…

Do I buy the back story? No. Is it a great legend & back story to sell one of the hands down best instrumental releases of 2011? HELLFUCKINGYES. I don’t know who made this & if I found out I still wouldn’t tell, word to “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance”. If the legend is greater than the truth, you print the legend. This is one hell of a story and one hell of an album. Stop sleeping on it. Cop it on vinyl or digitally from All City Dublin, Turntable Lab, Boomkat, Rush Hour, Clone Records, Amazon or iTunes. Just don’t sleep on it anymore…

DON’T SLEEP: Onra “Intro” [VIDEO]

The video below was made for the intro to last year’s incredible “Long Distance LP” by Onra. I say this video 5x in a row and my mind is blown. I checked to make sure there was no peyote in my orange juice. There wasn’t. Or they just neglected to list it with the other ingredients on the packaging. Moreover, this video is amazing and I wish it were longer. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: Onra “Love On The Beat” [VIDEO]

Onra is one of my favorite producers, his instrumental albums and production occupies a fair amount of my iTunes libraries (“Chinoiseries”, “Tribute” (w/Quetzal), “The Big Pay Back” (w/Byron The Aquarius) “1.0.8” his 7×7 All City Beatstrumentals entry & “Long Distance”). Onra discusses his “Long Distance” tour and few other related matters in this video here since it refuses to imbed. Sweet!

DON’T SLEEP: Coleman & Ta’Raach “L.A. Series #9” & Exile & Free The Robots “L.A. Series #10” [NEW INSTRUMENTAL PROJECTS]

All City Records in Dublin have released some of my favorite jawns of the past three or so years. There was the 7×7 Beatstrumentals Series, Knxwledge’s “Klouds”, Onra’s “Long Distance” and let’s not forget the “L.A. Series” that’s drawing to a close with these two final releases by Coleman & Ta’Raach then Exile & Free The Robots. The entire “L.A. Series” showcases the premiere beatmakers and producers currently in Los Angeles. All 10 releases are occupying space in my illustrious iPod Touch as I write this very piece.

Get your heads out of your asses (assuming that they’re there of course, if not just assume that I’m an asshole that’s really passionate about music) and cop these two releases post haste. Also check out All City Dublin’s entire back catalog. Thank you.
