DON’T SLEEP: Bwan “Dreamers” (prod. by Esta) [SINGLE]

Bwan of Beatrock Music spits over one of my favorite beats of 2011 produced by the homie Esta. This is real dope. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: DOOM/STARKS “Victory Laps (Madvillainz Remix)” Radio Rip [AUDIO]

I’m not the hugest fan of posting radio rips of releases before an official press copy or CDQ audio is provided by the label but since Nature Sounds announced that the long awaited project once called “Swift & Changeable” will be officially called DOOM/STARKS and is expected to drop in 2011, the buzz has been immense. Enough that I’ll cave to pressure and post audio of Peter Rosenberg’s premiere of “Victory Laps” on Hot 97 recently. The single will drop July 26th and you can TRY to still cop the tape directly from Nature Sounds. The Serato picture disk ships August 30th. Good luck & don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Vandalyzm “The Proposal” [NEW PROJECT]

The homie Vandalyzm’s new project “The Proposal” just dropped today. Get your asses over there and listen to it then cop it for a damb dollar. ONE DOLLAR. If you claim you support Hip Hop you can cop quality music for the same amount you spend on a dutch. Be on the lookout for “Vandalyzm Is The Stepfather” in the fall you raggedy ass bastards (I say that with love). Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Zo! “…Just Visiting Three” [NEW PROJECT]

The homie Zo! just dropped his latest collection of covers featuring the vocal talents of Phonte Coleman, Erro, Sy Smith, Jeanne Jolly, Nicholas Ryan Gant and Anthony David. DON’T SLEEP: DJ Jazzy Jeff x Ayah “Back For More” [NEW ALBUM]

It’s been a long wait (more than a year) but the DJ Jazzy Jeff x Ayah album “Back For More” will get a proper release today after the “This Way” album sampler initially dropped. Salute to the homie FWMJ for the excellent cover art and salute to Jazzy Jeff, James Poyser, Demien DeSandies & Ayah for making such an excellent album. Cop it right damb now. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Black Milk x Jack White “Brain”/”Royal Mega” [NEW MUSIC]

So…two of my favorite musicians/producers collaborated recently. Jack White (formerly of The White Stripes) and Black Milk. Let me explain, I was a White Stripes fan from jump. When Jack produced the Von Bondies I was like “WORD!”. His side projects with The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather are among my favorites. I even saw “Coffee & Cigarettes” partly because I knew RZA & GZA would be in it alongside Jack & Meg White. I’ve also seen “The White Stripes: Under Blackpool Lights” and “The White Stripes Under Great Northern Lights” in addition to “It Might Get Loud” which has been on my Neflix instant queue since it became available. I’m a fan. Obviously.

The story of Black Milk and Jack White getting together @ Third Man Records in Nashville to record and the audio itself is over @ Black Milk’s site. Salute Black Milk, Rosalinda, Daru Jones, AB & Malik Hunter. “Brain” & “Royal Mega” are fuckin’ epic. Cop ’em. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP: Trek Life “Wouldn’t Change Nothing” [REMIX ALBUM]

Last year, the amazing Oddisee x Trek Life LP “Everything Changed Nothing” was released on Mello Music Group and it did quite well both critically and saleswise. This year, Trek Life’s “Wouldn’t Change Nothing” drops, a remix album featuring the production talents of Oddisee, Apollo Brown, J.Bizness, Marv Won, Slimkat78, Audible Doctor, Bombay, Captain, A3, Duke Westlake and my boys Has-Lo & ST/MiC. I might be biased because so many of my favorite producers and affiliates are on this project but fuck it, they’re all dope so that makes it all right. Cop “Wouldn’t Change Nothing” for only $5.99 from Amazon or from iTunes or UGHH and make your day fresher than it was previously. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Nameless “[shrug]” [BEAT TAPE]

Immensely talented graphic designer and beatmaker/producer NAMELESS has dropped yet another ill project on people’s heads this morning called simply “[shrug]”. The thing is that’s it’s virtually impossible to shrug off these slaps after hearing them. If you need graphic design work or beats from NAMELESS then hit him up @ namelessdesigns83[at]gmail[dot]com. Serious inquiries only as we don’t have time for fake muthafuckas. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Hennessy Artistry x Thibaut De Longeville “The Art Of Blending” [DOCUMENTARY]

Thibaut De Longville did a documentary called “Just for Kicks” that documented the rise of sneaker culture (and hypebeasting) in America and worldwide. I loved the Adidas section involving Run DMC the most, then again I’m from Boston so of course I did. I saw that he did a documentary recently called “The Art Of Blending” that’s 30 minutes long and features footage of The Roots, Q Tip, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige and Eve alongside Chaka Khan and Bobby Brown for a special NYC performance while the assembled talent explains what “blending” means and encompasses to them individually. This shit is epic, B. Go here to watch the legendary Roots Crew tear shit down and embody “The Art Of Blending”. Enjoy. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP [FLASHBACK]: Datahowler “Everywhere A Million” Live MPC 1000 Routine [BEAT VIDEO]

Back when my boy Datahowler went by the name Objektiv One he had an MPC 1000 routine he did that I thought was dope. Here it is. Also, he’s a talented graphic designer. Get at him for work in either graphic design or production. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: @Peace “@Peace” [NEW ALBUM]

Two producers I’m very familiar with Christoph El Truento & Benny Tones are both involved in this project sonically so that alone was reason enough for me to listen. I didn’t expect to be this impressed with “@Peace” lyrically. Is this a duo? All I know is this shit needs a physical release. That’s two indie/free albums I heard in the span of 90 minutes that completely piss all over 85% of these major label albums that dropped in 2011. Amazing. Don’t sleep on “@Peace”

DON’T SLEEP: Idasa Tariq “Pissed Off Soul Man” [NEW ALBUM]

Idasa Tariq is the first name I think of when I think of current Pittsburgh Hip Hop. Not Wiz Khalifa. Not Mac Miller. This emcee/producer’s name needs to be mentioned when you discuss the nicest up & comers on the scene today. Features from A.P.E.X., Jasiri X, Ayatollah Jaxx, E-Fluent and Kymel Yard raise “Pissed Off Soul Man” from just a dope ass album to one of the best efforts of 2011 thus far. Listen to “Pissed Off Soul Man” for yourself and form your own opinion. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Vandalyzm “April’s Fool” (prod. by Vandalyzm) [VIDEO]

This is the lead single from the homie Vandalyzm‘s upcoming EP “The Proposal”. It’s called “April’s Fool” and was produced by Vandalyzm. Shout out to Native Instruments and the Maschine. I can’t wait to finally hear this jawn. You don’t even know…

DON’T SLEEP: Zilla Rocca “Nights & Weekends Promo” [VIDEO]

Zilla Rocca is trying to fund the release of his new album “Nights & Weekends” via Kickstarter. He has 20 days left and only about $1000 left to go before he reaches his goal. Below is a promo video for the aforementioned project which I’d like to see come to fruition for selfish personal reasons. In any event, check this jawn out and help this man get his music out to the masses. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Roy Ayers Project x Tribeca “4ever 2gether” [INSTRUMENTAL]

Tribeca is a producer that’s been around for a minute. I remember back when he was making tracks for my boy KT and his jawns “My Life” and “Charlie Hustle”. In any event, check out the crispness of those drums on his new submission to the Roy Ayers Project called “4ever 2gether”. If you’d like to submit your interpretations and slaps to the Roy Ayers Project, hit them up @ RoyAyersProject@gmail.com but please read these beat submission guidelines thoroughly first. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: Shabazz Palaces Live @ KEXP, Seattle (6.28.2011) [VIDEO]

Y’all really need to cop Shabazz Palaces “Black Up” if you haven’t already. Cop it from Amazon, eMusic or the bonus track version from iTunes. I’ve been too busy to rant about this jawn but you need to cop it. Didn’t I already tell y’all about Shabazz Palaces a while back? Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Lewis Parker “Dangerous Adventures Promo Special” [VIDEO]

The elusive master of the SP 1200 Lewis Parker (trust me, I’ve been trying to get a hold of him for Has-Lo for a minute) recently dropped a vinyl collector’s edition LP called “Dangerous Adventures EP” that the masses need to be aware of. The project features Lewis Parker slaps with bars from Planet Asia, Vast Aire, John Robinson, T.R.A.C, Eastkoast, Tah Born, River Nelson, Icerocks, Killa Sha (R.I.P.), Baron, Sav Killz and Lewis Parker himself.

You need this shit in your lives if you’re a real beathead and vinyl afficionado. That’s my word. There’s a limited run of 500 copies being printed and you can cop yours from KingUnderground right now. Salute to The World Of Dusty Vinyl & KingUnderground. Don’t sleep!

DON’T SLEEP: DJ Mark The 45 King “Making The Beat: Prince Paul Pts. 1 & 2” [VIDEOS]

DJ Mark The 45 King’s talk show “Making The Beat” is a great way to hear a master speak with several other great guests. This particular two part interview involved Stetsasonic member, De La Soul mentor/producer, Gravedigga and the pioneer of album skits DJ Prince Paul. This is pure gold, B. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Producers I Know x Peace Of Mind “Laces Out” [BEAT TAPE]

It’s now officially July 11th, 2011 so we will unleash Hell on the blogosphere/bloggerverse in the guise of this 35 slap monstrosity titled “Laces Out”. Peace Of Mind did all the work, I just provided the venue. Just know that this jawn is ridiculous and well worth the wait. The weekend is your reward for your work week. “Laces Out” is your reward for surviving your weekend.

“Laces Out” will serve as the soundtrack to your ascent into night as well as the transformation from night into morning. It can serve as driving music or iron horse commuter music. You can work out to it. Shit, if you’re gully you can even fuck to it (Good luck with that, though. You need to find a girl that wears Timberlands in the summer for that one…)

Oh yeah…it ain’t over muthafuckas! © O’Shea Jackson. More jawns coming from J57, Aspect One, Falside, the official announcement of the newest PIK member @ midnight July 15th and some other surprises. Don’t sleep on Producers I Know in July and beyond! Without any further ado, I present “Laces Out”. Enjoy:
