DON’T SLEEP: REL x J Billion “MVMNT” [FREE ALBUM]

REL of SWTBRDS Drums & Ammo production team provides the sonic backdrop for Bay Area emcee J Billion to paint with bars. The finished product is impressive to say the least. “MVMNT” features guest appearances from Tha Jacka, Enoch & 1 O.A.K. that just further make it hard to believe that this project is available for free. The production is bananas. The bars are up to par. This jawn sounds better than these major label album that keep stinking up my Gmail inbox. REL x J Billion “MVMT”. Salute.

DON’T SLEEP: The Beat Conception “Beginning Of The End Vol. 1” [INSTRUMENTAL COMPILATION]

The Beat Conception brings us a 8 track instrumental compilation/beat tape that’s sure to get heads bobbin’ cuz the neck knows it’s ill. The three beatmakers that each contribute to this cause are Cincinnati’s AngeredRebel, Toronto’s Skwalk3r and Mozaic who I’m not up on but I think he’s from Cali. Be sure to part with that dollar and cop The Beat Conception “The Beginning Of The End Vol. 1”. Don’t sleep, this shit is raw!

DON’T SLEEP: Keor Meteor x DJ Ivan6 “The Manchurian Candidate” [BEAT TAPE]

Parisian beatmaker Keor Meteor teamed up with turntablist DJ Ivan6 to add another dimension to his already ill slaps on this project. He then cleverly tied some vocal samples regarding the MK Ultra program and some other recognizable film dialogue (such as “Space Is The Place”). The end result is a must download beat tape that you better not sleep on. Download “The Manchurian Candidate”. While you’re at it, check out Keor’s previous offering, last month’s heavily slept on beat tape “The Grey Level” as well. The sleeper must awaken…

DON’T SLEEP: Cha The Beatcreatah “Challenger’s Lift Off” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

Back in February, Spanish producer Cha The Beatcreatah made a beat tape using the tragedy of the space shuttle Challenger as the backdrop. It’s been 25 years since the incident occurred and it hit close to home when it happened because Boston’s own Ron McNair (trust me, he was a Bostonian. I currently live in the apartment he & his family lived in all throughout his younger years up until he went to college). This beat tape does an excellent job framing the emotional rollercoaster that was the mission then the subsequent tragedy that occurred next. Download it for free off Cha The Beatcreatah‘s Bandcamp.

DON’T SLEEP: Mo Kolours “Drum Talking EP” [NEW PROJECT]

Mo Kolours is a vocalist, percussionist and producer that stradles the fine line that beat culture itself occupies. His music is somewhere between Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz and whatever term some so called music writer seems fit to give his music in order to come up with a genre name. As if any genre name could accurately describe his music anyways. Just listen to the “Drum Talking EP” for yourselves to see what I mean…

DON’T SLEEP: 7even Sun “Another Dimension” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

7even Sun‘s “Another Dimension” is dynamic, eclectic, schizophrenic, hypoallergenic, afrocentric, asiatic and fantastic. Great, now it looks like I let Don King ghostwrite this entry. The bottom line is this versatile instrumental project is worth hearing and even purchasing. Go forth and listen to this. Vive La France!

DON’T SLEEP: Beatsofreen “Future Memories” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

I first heard a track from Beatsofreen who reps Holland in the Netherlands back on April 1st on the site Beat Creator Escapades and after I downloaded the full project my laptop died. When it zombified 24 hours later, I removed most of my new files and moved them to my Firewire USB external drive. DON’T SLEEP: Tall Black Guy “Therapy Chop Sessions EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Tall Black Guy just dropped an instrumental project based on slaps he created while being a part of a Facebook collective of producers called The Beat Inn. They challenge each other to flip various samples and this is a collection of them all. I was tipped off about this jawn by Luigi-Bo87 of Hypedog Hip Hop. This shit is sickening, B. DON’T SLEEP: Onra “Intro” [VIDEO]

The video below was made for the intro to last year’s incredible “Long Distance LP” by Onra. I say this video 5x in a row and my mind is blown. I checked to make sure there was no peyote in my orange juice. There wasn’t. Or they just neglected to list it with the other ingredients on the packaging. Moreover, this video is amazing and I wish it were longer. Enjoy:
