DON’T SLEEP: Mo Kolours “Drum Talking EP” [NEW PROJECT]

Mo Kolours is a vocalist, percussionist and producer that stradles the fine line that beat culture itself occupies. His music is somewhere between Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz and whatever term some so called music writer seems fit to give his music in order to come up with a genre name. As if any genre name could accurately describe his music anyways. Just listen to the “Drum Talking EP” for yourselves to see what I mean…

DON’T SLEEP: Mono:Massive x Vertual Vertigo “Drink Tickets Remixed” [REMIX PROJECT]

Back in June 2010, Austrian beatmaker/producer Mono:Massive made an EP on limited vinyl featuring a gang of Chicagoan emcees spitting over his slaps called “Drink Tickets”. DON’T SLEEP: 7even Sun “Another Dimension” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

7even Sun‘s “Another Dimension” is dynamic, eclectic, schizophrenic, hypoallergenic, afrocentric, asiatic and fantastic. Great, now it looks like I let Don King ghostwrite this entry. The bottom line is this versatile instrumental project is worth hearing and even purchasing. Go forth and listen to this. Vive La France!

DON’T SLEEP: Beatsofreen “Future Memories” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

I first heard a track from Beatsofreen who reps Holland in the Netherlands back on April 1st on the site Beat Creator Escapades and after I downloaded the full project my laptop died. When it zombified 24 hours later, I removed most of my new files and moved them to my Firewire USB external drive. While clearing up space on said 17″ Powerbook G4 it a few hours ago, I found “Future Memories” in a zip file. Just played it. Just loved it. DON’T SLEEP: Telemachus “Ferndale Road” (prod. by Telemachus) [VIDEO]

Telemachus’ lead single for his upcoming LP “Telemachus In The Evening” is “Scarecrows” featuring Roc Marciano and the B side was a haunting instrumental dedicated to Ferndale Road in Brixton. Below is the video for said instrumental. Can’t wait for this album…

DON’T SLEEP: Tall Black Guy “Therapy Chop Sessions EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Tall Black Guy just dropped an instrumental project based on slaps he created while being a part of a Facebook collective of producers called The Beat Inn. They challenge each other to flip various samples and this is a collection of them all. I was tipped off about this jawn by Luigi-Bo87 of Hypedog Hip Hop. This shit is sickening, B. You can cop Tall Black Guy’s “Therapy Chop Sessions EP” from his Bandcamp page for $6.

DON’T SLEEP: Zweipunktnill “Milk EP” [FREE INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Austrian beatmaker and Soundcloud sensation Zweipunktnill has just recently dropped an EP of ill blaps on Bandcamp that had me making the scrunchface at about 5 AM this morning. Credit me being on some Bronze Surfer type steez researching on the internet before stumbling on a link to his project on Supercity (I’m all over the place, people). Go listen to, stream and download Zweipunktnill’s “Milk EP”. Now. Thank you…

DON’T SLEEP: Onra “Intro” [VIDEO]

The video below was made for the intro to last year’s incredible “Long Distance LP” by Onra. I say this video 5x in a row and my mind is blown. I checked to make sure there was no peyote in my orange juice. There wasn’t. Or they just neglected to list it with the other ingredients on the packaging. Moreover, this video is amazing and I wish it were longer. Enjoy:

DON’T SLEEP: BUeLLER “HOMeBURGER” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

I refuse to act like I have any real information regarding this beat tape/release or that I can shed any real light on things. This project was brought to my attention last night by @eyanj via Twitter. I know Bueller is from Montreal, Quebec in Canada because I remember last year’s “AiRGLOW” but I don’t know if Quand-Y Pleut is a contributor or not. I have NO clue what tout’nou means (150+ KenLo Craqnuques beats on my iPod Touch & I still ain’t learned shit!). I DO know this project is called “HOMeBURGER” and it’s pretty dope. It’s free dumbass so no excuses, either…

DON’T SLEEP: Madhandmade “Madhandmade” [FREE BEAT TAPE]

I’m not even gonna front. I JUST finished hearing this entire beat tape on Bandcamp. Bugseed posted the link up on Twitter and I liked what I heard so I posted it. I’m guessing the producer is Japanese. That being the case, Bugseed needs to put us up on more of this smooth shit. 13 slaps that run just around 20 minutes and it’s a free download so what’s stopping your punk ass? NOTHING. Get Madhandmade “Madhandmade” here.

DON’T SLEEP: Juganaut “Juganautology” [FREE ALBUM]

Juganaut is a UK producer/emcee I just recently heard about not too long ago. I actually saw his project up on Rap Ohne Lizenz earlier this week at 4 AM and I decided to give it a listen. I was pleasantly surprised by what I heard so here’s the download link to Juganaut’s mostly self produced LP “Juganautology”. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Heaprize “The Point Blank Project” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand is beatmaker extraordinaire Heaprize. I stumbled on this one this morning as I made my rounds on the internet via Finest Ego. If you’re not following that site then you’re missing out on a lot of hot shit, B. “The Point Blank Project” is only $5 and consists of 7 ill blaps. I look forward to hearing more from Heap Prize Music in the near future…

DON’T SLEEP: Ketchphraze f/Trick Trick & eLZhi “My Detroit” (prod. by Black Milk) [SINGLE]

Ketchphraze of Street Justice recorded a few songs with Black Milk and some of the premier emcees on the Detroit Hip Hop landscape a while back. I had them all as far back as December or January and as a collection they were called “The Virus EP”. Here’s one of those songs that had yet to be liberated until today, Ketchphraze f/Trick Trick & eLZhi’s “My Detroit”. Be on the lookout for Ketchphraze’s upcoming solo material. Don’t sleep:

DON’T SLEEP: Shag “Shag Files” [NEW PIK MEMBER BANDCAMP PAGE]

Every month until the Summer is over I will be adding a new member to Team PIK. Last month, I added Brockton, MA’s own D-Man after numerous incredible projects and placementa and a record amount of submitted closers to the Scrunchface Show. This month, I decided to bring in an impressive young producer/beatmaker from Fort Worth, TX called Shag.

I’ve been taking note of his growth, progression and versatility since he dropped his first project on Bandcamp back in December 2009. Since then, Shag has produced 9 totally different but equally impressive projects that made me see his potential. If Shag stays on his current path, he can become as well respected and revered as producers such as Alex B or Take are currently. Check out his PIK Bandcamp page “Shag Files” and get acquainted with his impressive back catalog while looking forward to his bright future.

DON’T SLEEP: Audible Doctor Presents: “The Spread EP (Vocal Version)” [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Back in February, Brown Bag All Star Audible Doctor in association with 2DopeBoyz & Hip Hop Game dropped a 7 track instrumental project called “The Spread EP” then later introduced a contest where if you submitted the best vocal version over a particular slap from “The Spread EP” then you ended up on the Vocal Version. The winners have been chosen and their names are on the back cover art that I’ll post just below:

There are also two bonus remixes included alongside the 9 instrumentals to go with each vocal version for 18 total tracks. To download said project just go below. Also keep in mind that “The Spread EP Vol. 2” is on it’s way.

I posted this 11 slap 17 minute scrunchface inducing beat tape up three days ago but when I clicked the link on my FaceBook page it said that the original post didn’t exist. That pissed me the fuck off so I’m making yet another post for it. DO. NOT. SLEEP. ON. THIS. BEAT TAPE. It’s less than 20 GB’s and it’s bananas. The lead single from the May 17th Producers I Know x Bloggerhouse joint release “In The Pocket” (which was produced exclusively through the usage of iPhone apps such as Intua’s BeatMaker and Noise.io) is “Natural”. This jawn features the prolific emcee Moka Only who also provides the soulful sung hook as well. ST/MiC and Moka Only collaborate quite often and MiC is his engineer of choice. DON’T SLEEP: Renegades Of Bump “Ritmo Kovos dalis.2” & “Ritmo Kovos #1” [INTERNATIONAL BEAT COMPILATIONS]

Two weeks ago, Renegades Of Bump posted a Lithuanian beat compilation from it’s most talented up & coming producers and beatmakers called “Ritmo Kovos #1” with a gang of ill blaps on it for $5 that I just saw again on Finest Ego. I remembered that I’d downloaded a previous Renegades Of Bump beat tape for free on the MacBook back when my 15″ PowerBook G4 almost exploded on me earlier this winter. I found “Ritmo Kovos dalis.2” still unzipped on the hard drive from January 12th, 2011. I listened to it and said “Sheeeeeeeit” © Clay Davis. Don’t sleep on Lithuania. They ain’t just good at basketball…

DON’T SLEEP: Edo. G “Stop It” (prod. by Max Mostely) [VIDEO]

Hip Hop legend Edo. G has been in the game for 25 years now and his new album “A Face In The Crowd” drops next week. This video for his new single “Stop It” is filmed in Roxbury, a part of Boston that those damb “Boston movies” seem to neglect even though it’s in the heart of the city. No need to have bridges visible in any shots because it’s actually filmed in Boston. Proof? Look at all the brown people! *shots fired*. Ed hangs around the Humboldt area and he even hits up a couple of record stores (Skippy White’s & A Nubian Notion?). Watch the video. Buy the album. Salute Boston. See y’all at the Boston Hip Hop Unity Fest on the 21st

DON’T SLEEP: Trinity (A.G. x Sadat X x DJ Jab) “20 In” (co-prod. by Kris The Katalyst & DJ Jab ) [VIDEO]

The first time I ever heard about the trio of A.G. (D.I.T.C.) , Sadat X (Brand Nubian) & DJ Jab (Fat Beats) called Trinity was back in 2009. Since then they’ve dropped a tribute to Grandmaster Roc Raida, a tribute song to the birthplace of Hip Hop called “The Bronx” and a song about longevity in the discipline of Hip Hop called “20 In”. The video is below and expect a Trinity LP on Fat Beats in late 2011. That explains why A.G. & Sadat X were chillin’ around Fat Beats last month on Record Store Day, huh? *Smacks forehead*
