DON’T SLEEP: Smokey Robotic “Blast Off” (co-prod. by !llmind & Konrad) [SINGLE]

!llmind is known chiefly as a Hip Hop producer but much like DJ Khalil’s side project The New Royales, !llmind has a brand new thing about to drop soon with the outfit Smokey Robotic. This single “Blast Off”  leads us into the upcoming album “The Shark And The Helicopter” and gives fans an idea of what’s to come. Check it out here:

DON’T SLEEP: Grussle f/Tef Wesley “Wait 1 Minute” (prod. by Grussle) [SINGLE]

On June 21st, our people over @ Inner Loop Records will be dropping another instrumental project. This particular opus will be produced by Grussle and the theme will be a failed relationship, hence the title ‘The Break Up”. The lead single features emcee/producer Tef Wesley and is called “Wait 1 Minute”. When the full jawn drops, you’ll find it here @ Producers I Know. My eyes are wide open (no A Clockwork Orange). How about yours?

DON’T SLEEP: Natruel “Helium” (co-prod. by !llmind & Symbolyc One) [SINGLE]

Natruel’s newest jawn “Helium” was co-produced by Beat Fanatic fam !llmind (“Behind The Curtain”) & Strange Fruit Project’s Symbolyc One (Kanye West, Beyonce). Don’t sleep on this jawn as it bangs. I just wish that it was longer. Go listen to “Helium” here.

DON’T SLEEP: 14KT “14KillaTape” [BEAT TAPE]

It’s finally here! 14KT’s legendary “14KillaTape” dropped today via 14KT & A Side Worldwide. The first mention of the 14KillaTape I ever saw was an interaction between Houseshoes & 14KT on Twitter last year. I had no clue what they were referring to until Houseshoes appeared on The Scrunchface Show w/ Jordan Rockswell back last November. He told me that I had to hear this new beat tape 14KT had called “The Killa Tape”. He RAVED about it, if you know anything about Shoes is this dude’s ear is infallible. I asked 14KT about it the next day on Twitter & he said “Hopefully it will be released to the public one day”. Cool.

In December 2010, we had Magestik Legend & Jamall Bufford (Buff1) on the show (the interview was lost due to a server crash caused by high viewership) and Buff1 couldn’t even put “The Killa Tape” into intelligible words which was all I needed to hear to know it was going to be equal to or iller than “Nowalataz” was. I hadn’t heard about the legendary “Killa Tape” until late May when KT began tweeting about it and various A Siders and inner circle cats began extolling it’s virtues. Then I heard it was dropping on June 7th. SAY WORD! © Redman

So here it is, 14 slaps made between 2008 and now beginning from when 14KT began competing on the beat battle circuit. Without any further ado, I present to the inhabitants of Earth, 14KT’s “14KillaTape”. Enjoy and salute everyone @ A Side Worldwide.

In KT’s own words:
“Straight up…this is that raw ish. Slaps. Face Twisters. Hard beats. All these joints were made in a span of 08’-11’. It all started when I first got into the Red Bull Beat Battle in Detroit end of 08’. I was never known as a beat battle type producer and believe it or not, I actually don’t like battling with beats. However, that was my first time ever battling with beats. Knowing I was battling, I definitely found myself in a different frame of mind when I sat down to make joints in the lab. While in the lab, my motivation was making beats that I would have HATED if my opponent played them against me. I took a collection of beats where I had that mind state and mixed them with other beats I made during that time period. I’m setting this Killer Tape off with the first joint I ever made in a beat battle mind state and the rest is history. I got a new nickname under my belt now, 14KillaTape…haha” – 14KT

DON’T SLEEP: Duzz Down San “DuzzUp Vol.1: So Whazt Duzz Up” [FREE INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

I saw feux mention this on Twitter yesterday so I followed his link to the Supercity blog and I bookmarked it. I just heard this project while I was writing my previous posts tonight and I loved what I heard. 13 ill compositions from Austrian beatmakers such as feux, Mono:Massive, Dusty Crates, DJ Sight, Chrisfader, Def Ill, Testa, M-Tone & more. “DuzzUp Vol. 1” isn’t to be slept on…

DON’T SLEEP: K-Murdock “Smooth Talking: Twilight Edition” & “12 Step Program (Instrumentals)” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECTS]

K-Murdock released two instrumental projects recently that I’d like you all to take note of & I’d like to personally acknowledge. First off, “Smooth Talking: Twilight Edition”. A Japanese instrumental project which will help fund relief efforts for Japan after the recent earthquakes. Secondly, the instrumentals from the last Panacea album “12 Step Program” (which had some INCREDIBLE cover art). If you’re a K-Murdock fan (or a fan of beats in general), then you should definitely be on the lookout for these. Salute Neosonic Poductions & K-Murdock…

DON’T SLEEP: Question “Re-Deux” [BEAT TAPE]

Question dropped one of my favorite instrumental albums of 2010 in “Standard Translation” and I didn’t hear from him at all in 2011 until last week. Question dropped a free (?) funky ass 5 slap beat tape on all of our heads called “Re-Deux”. I’m digging this jawn like an archaeologist at an excavation site. Go to his Bandcamp page and download it before the free slots for the month are all used up…

DON’T SLEEP: Grillo “Show ‘Em Sumo” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

I thought Grillo had forgotten about his Street Fighter series of instrumentals to be perfectly honest. He dropped the second installment last month as a dedication to Sumo grand champion and world class fighter Edmund Honda called “Show ‘En Sumo”. Last September, he dropped the first jawn “I Had U Ken”, an instrumental project dedicated entirely to Ryu’s main competitor, training partner & best friend Ken Masters. I caught it over @ Finest Ego. Don’t sleep…

DON’T SLEEP: Damu The Fudgemunk “Spur Momento Promo #1” [PROMO VIDEO]

Damu The Fudgemunk at the vinyl pressing plant prepping his 75 instrumental opus “Spur Momento” set to drop in 2012. In the interim, be on the lookout for Y Society’s (Damu & Insight) “Cold Crush Can’t Be Touched” about to drop later this year. Can’t wait…

DON’T SLEEP: A-Plus/Compound 7 “Legrowlize It” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

A Plus of Compound 7/Hieroglyphics Crew produced this *ahem!* batch of beats back around 2000 all dedicated to Hip Hop’s (and the Earth’s) favorite plant. “Legrowlize It” is an instrumental trip (pun?) to the past and a look forward to the future where marijuana is (hopefully) finally decriminalized. Go forth and cop it now. Good looking out to Walasia

DON’T SLEEP: AWAR “Orange Boxcutter” (prod. by Vanderslice) [SINGLE]

Brutal Music’s Vanderslice previewed this jawn for us on video months ago and here it finally is, AWAR’s “Orange Boxcutter” produced by Vanderslice of Brutal Music. Don’t sleep on it!

DON’T SLEEP: Donwill x Suff Daddy “DPPLGNGER” [FREE PROJECT]

One of my favorite emcee/producers Donwill spits on a bunch of beats by one of favorite producers, Melting Pot Music’s own Suff Daddy. Don’t sleep on “DPPLGNGR” as there are less than 80 free downloads left on the Bandcamp page right now. Go download this jawn yesterday…

To contact Dockmini about beat availability or pricing then contact him @ dockmini@gmail.com. Serious inquiries only as time is money and none of us have either to waste. Don’t sleep on Dockmini & salute Team PIK (ApaTight, Jon Phonics, Pete Cannon, Dockmini, Naive, D-Man, Shag & the newest member I’ll announce on the 10th!)

DON’T SLEEP: Vlooper x Modlee “Analog Love” [FREE PROJECT]

Vlooper & Modlee graciously bless us with the excellent “Analog Love” project which is, inexplicably, a free download. People should be paying for this. Why lie? In addition, check out Vlooper’s previous opus “COPYCAT (A Dilla Tribute)” which so many of us slept on (myself included)…

DON’T SLEEP: Funky DL “Cool Classic Jazzstrumentals Vol. 1” [INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM]

British producer/emcee legend Funky DL has returned with a new instrumental project called “Cool Classic Jazzstrumentals Vol. 1” which he made available for purchase on Bandcamp recently. Also check out this digital re-issue of his “Lyrics No Stress”/”Record Shop” single. Don’t sleep…

JohhnyBoy (Overnights) “Meat My Beats” [BEAT TAPE]

I saw and heard this Italian beatmaker’s project over at Finest Ego. I liked what I heard so I decided to put you all onto it as well. JohnnyBoy and Daretta of Overnights shouldn’t be slept on…

One.

DON’T SLEEP: Knxwledge “Gwapes EP” [INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM]

The homie Sweeney Kovar put me onto this one as I’d been so engrossed with writing my “Game Of Thrones” piece on Bastard Swordsman I didn’t even notice it dropped. I gave it a listen and just like with Knxwldge’s previous releases this year (and way before that) it was ridiculous. Knxwledge’s “Gwapes EP” isn’t to be slept on. Salute to Klipm0de Sound Agency…

One.

DON’T SLEEP: Midnight Eez “Midnight Eez EP” [INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT]

The story goes that DJ Splyce (the founder of All City Records in Dublin) was visiting the old Fat Beats location in Manhattan when he was approached by a Bronx based production duo back in either 1995 or 1996. They heard he was an out of town DJ and they hit him off with a tape with their name “Midnight Eez” on it & a pager number. Supposedly, DJ Splyce didn’t find said tape until recently during a recent move. He heard the tape and decided to give it a proper release on All City. The cover is photographed by Hip Hop photojournalism legend Suekwon who also doesn’t know or remember Midnight Eez’ identity. Hmmm…

Do I buy the back story? No. Is it a great legend & back story to sell one of the hands down best instrumental releases of 2011? HELLFUCKINGYES. I don’t know who made this & if I found out I still wouldn’t tell, word to “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance”. If the legend is greater than the truth, you print the legend. This is one hell of a story and one hell of an album. Stop sleeping on it. Cop it on vinyl or digitally from All City Dublin, Turntable Lab, Boomkat, Rush Hour, Clone Records, Amazon or iTunes. Just don’t sleep on it anymore…

DON’T SLEEP: Oh No “May Beats” [INSTRUMENTALS]

Back in May, Oxnard’s own Oh No AKA Dr. No AKA The Disrupt & half of Gangrene (w/The Alchemist) and The Professionals (w/Madlib) dropped a few beats for $1 each on his Bandcamp page all throughout May. They were called “All Day Long”, “Medieval Times”, “The Purity” & “The Dungeons”. Don’t sleep on them!

One.

DON’T SLEEP: Station “Best Friend Ever” [BEAT TAPE]

Station’s “Best Friend Ever” is just the latest in an impressive line of excellent releases in 2011 ( “Smart Objects” & “Sentimotherfuckingmental”) . Station’s production doesn’t grab you by the sides of head at first, but it does keep you intrigued for a while before, seemingly out of nowhere it begins to slap you in your face repeatedly. Kinda like Naomi Campbell but without the novelty of saying “Son, I got slapped repeatedly by Naomi Campbell!”. Please stop reading this and go listen to Station’s slaps…

DON’T SLEEP: Rkappa “Just Chillin Instrumentals” [BEAT TAPE]

Portugal’s Rkappa recently crafted this jazzy collection of smooth, laid back loungey type beats and named it “Just Chillin Instrumentals”. It’s a nice departure from the sometimes over aggressive beat battle type beats or even the ultra experimental beat culture/Brainfeeder/Low End Theory/Beat Cinema leaning projects I occasional encounter. Go listen to this right now, variety is good. Too much of the same thing will make you wanna punch Starbucks barista in the face. Or an employee at the Ed Hardy store. Which reminds me, I need to walk over to Newbury Street sometime today to do both…

DON’T SLEEP: Explicit & DJ Hellfire present Symphony Sounds “Beat Tape Vols. 1 & 2” [BEAT TAPE]

There’s no way around it, I definitely slept on the both of these jawns. I saw someone reference one of theses beats on a Canadian Hip Hop messageboard about two weeks ago but I forgot about it. Then someone (I have two accounts with a combined 5000+ followers so I don’t remember exactly who) posted a link to a particular beat from Vol.2 (pictured above) that made me say “COTDAYUM!”. I listened to that one first then I heard “Vol.1” afterwards. It doesn’t really matter that I heard them in reverse order because the bottom line is both Symphony Sounds “Beat Tape Vol. 1” & Symphony Sounds “Beat Tape Vol. 2” are fuckin’ ridiculous.

Explicit & DJ Hellfire did an excellent job of contributing to and compiling hella raw slaps from a great number of beatmakers from all over the globe to these two beat tapes. For that, Producers I Know salutes you…

DON’T SLEEP: Ahwlee “Relocated EP” & “Bumps” [BEAT TAPES]

I was on one of my epic beat tape posting streaks and my piece of shit laptop almost imploded (not exploded, trust me on this one) dude to overuse. My boy Luigi-B087 @ Hypedog Hip Hop sent me a Bandcamp link to Ahwlee‘s “Relocated EP” . Later on, he posted the Mediafire link to his beat tape “Bumps” that he caught on Twitter recently on my Facebook page. I JUST opened my laptop after putting it on ice for a while and go to listening. God call, Lu! Check these jawns out…
