Enough that I’ll cave to pressure and post audio of Peter Rosenberg’s premiere of “Victory Laps” on Hot 97 recently. DON’T SLEEP: Black Milk x Jack White “Brain”/”Royal Mega” [NEW MUSIC]
So…two of my favorite musicians/producers collaborated recently. Jack White (formerly of The White Stripes) and Black Milk. Let me explain, I was a White Stripes fan from jump. When Jack produced the Von Bondies I was like “WORD!”. His side projects with The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather are among my favorites. I even saw “Coffee & Cigarettes” partly because I knew RZA & GZA would be in it alongside Jack & Meg White. I’ve also seen “The White Stripes: Under Blackpool Lights” and “The White Stripes Under Great Northern Lights” in addition to “It Might Get Loud” which has been on my Neflix instant queue since it became available. I’m a fan. Obviously.
The story of Black Milk and Jack White getting together @ Third Man Records in Nashville to record and the audio itself is over @ Black Milk’s site. Salute Black Milk, Rosalinda, Daru Jones, AB & Malik Hunter. “Brain” & “Royal Mega” are fuckin’ epic. Cop ’em. DON’T SLEEP!

DON’T SLEEP: Blu “Jesus” [NEW UPCOMING ALBUM]
Less than 3 months ago I did a post about the mysterious Blu album that appeared on Bandcamp for $10 called “Jesus”. The album had a gang of repeated songs under different titles and that only left 8 original songs that were slightly over 17 minutes of music in total. Not very long afterwards the album was taken off of Bandcamp entirely. Recently Nature Sounds announced that they’d be releasing a proper version of “Jesus” in association with New World Color like they’d done previously with “Her Favorite Colo(u)r”.
You can expect to get your hands on Blu’s “Jesus” on August 30th, 2011. You can pre-order it on CD or 2LP’s from Nature Sounds. Don’t sleep…

Paul White (“The Strange Dreams Of Paul White”, “Sounds From The Skylight” & “Paul White & The Purple Brain”) has remained a consistent figure over the past 4 years. Whether it was his vinyl singles or his full length releases everything has been a heat rock. From the off kilter, bugged out compositions to his rawest slaps (i.e. “The Punch Drummer”) Paul White has run the gauntlet. After hearing the Guilty Simpson collaboration “Ancient Treasure” a while back, I often wondered what an entire album of vocalists over Paul White beats would sound like. I don’t need to wonder anymore…

I was on BoomBap.org looking @ Twit One’s Workspaces feature two days ago. I went to show my brother said post yesterday morning (to prove he uses an MPC 500) and I saw this new Brenk Sinatra jawn called “Predido” from his forthcoming album dropping on September 2nd, 2011 “Gumbo 2 (Pretty Ugly)” up there. I decided to help them (BoomBap.org) spread it so I posted it up on my site since Rap Ohne Lizenz had already done the same.
I did think it was weird that Melting Pot Music sent their lead single to another site rather than just post it up on their own Soundcloud page first. When I saw BoomBap.org change their post a few hours later and take the song down I immediately erased my initial post. Just goes to show you that even the experienced cats in this blog shit can get caught out there from time to time. Don’t sleep on Brenk or Melting Pot Music you sad excuses for music fans.
